According to one embodiment, the information processing apparatus includes an acquisition unit, a derivation unit, and a determination unit. The acquisition unit acquires voltage information indicating a voltage applied to a heat generation unit that heats a sheet in an image forming apparatus. The derivation unit derives a fluctuation range in the voltage indicated by the voltage information acquired by the acquisition unit. The determination unit determines whether or not there is an indication of a malfunction in the heat generation unit using the fluctuation range derived by the derivation unit and a reference fluctuation range.

According to one embodiment, a fixing device includes a belt, a heater, and a holder. The holder has a plurality of support portions that contact an end of the first heating region and an end of the second heating region along the direction perpendicular to the transport direction, and a plurality of non-contacting portions that do not contact the end of the first heating region and the end of the second heating region between the plurality of support portions, the end of the second heating region contacts one of the plurality of support portions at a side in the direction perpendicular to the transport direction, and the end of the second heating region faces to one of the plurality of non-contacting portions at the other side in the direction perpendicular to the transport direction.

An image forming apparatus includes a heating device including a heater, a developing device, and an airflow generation device. The heater includes a base, a heat generator, an electrode portion, and conductive portions. The conductive portions are disposed on one side and another side in a longitudinal direction in a heat generation region and spaced apart in a lateral direction intersecting the longitudinal direction. A maximum total value among total values of squares of current flowing in the conductive portions at longitudinal positions on the one side is larger than that on said another side. The developing device includes a rotating member and sliding portions. A sliding portion having highest temperature in operation is disposed on one side of the developing device being same as the one side of the heater in the longitudinal direction. The airflow generation device generates an airflow toward the one side of the developing device.

A fixing device includes a heater including a substrate and a resistance heating element disposed on the substrate, an endless belt, a first temperature sensor disposed at a position opposed to the heater and configured to detect a temperature at a center part of the heater in a longitudinal direction of the heater; and a second temperature sensor disposed at a position opposed to the heater and configured to detect a temperature at an end part of the heater in the longitudinal direction of the heater. The second temperature sensor is disposed at a position located on an outer side of the resistance heating element in the longitudinal direction of the heater.

A fixing device includes a heater including a substrate and a resistance heating element, an endless belt, a holder, a first heat conductive member and a second heat conductive member arranged in a longitudinal direction of the heater such that a first end of the first heat conductive member and a second of the second heat conductive member in the longitudinal direction of the heater are adjacent to each other, a temperature sensor configured to detect a temperature at an end part of the heater. The temperature sensor is in contact with the first heat conductive member. A position located between first end of the first heat conductive member and the second end of the second heat conductive member is closer to the temperature sensor than a central position of the resistance heating element in the longitudinal direction of the heater.
FIXING DEVICE PROVIDED WITH HEATER AND IMAGE FORMING APPARATUS
A fixing device includes a substrate, a first heat generator, a second heat generator with a length in a longitudinal direction of the substrate equal to a length of the first heat generator; and a third heat generator with a length shorter than the lengths of the first and second heat generators, a soaking member with a positioning portion in the longitudinal direction. In a short side direction of the substrate, the first heat generator is arranged at one end side, the second heat generator is arranged at the other end side, and the third heat generator is arranged between the first and second heat generators. The soaking member is arranged between the heater and a holder in a thickness direction. As seen in the short side direction, the positioning portion is positioned outside of an area corresponding to the third heat generator and inside of an area corresponding to the first heat generator.

A fixing device includes a cylinder, a heater, a contact body, and a soaking member. The heater has a first surface and an opposing second surface. The heater includes a heating element extending along a longitudinal direction of the heater. The first surface engages with an inner surface of the cylinder. The contact body is configured to engage with the inner surface of the cylinder. The contact body is configured to be heated at a first position along the longitudinal direction at a first temperature increase rate and at a second position along the longitudinal direction at a second temperature increase rate that is lower than the first temperature increase rate. The soaking member is positioned to engage with the opposing second surface of the heater. The soaking member has a second thermal capacity lower than a first thermal capacity at the respective second and first positions.
Image heating apparatus and image forming apparatus
An image heating apparatus includes a first rotating member, a second rotating member to form a nip portion which sandwiches a recording material between the first rotating member and the second rotating member, a heater unit provided inside the first rotating member and having a heater for heating an image on the recording material sandwiched by the nip portion, and a sheet member provided to overlap a part of the heater and electrically connected to the heater. The sheet member includes a first sheet member connected to one end of the heater in a longitudinal direction of the heater and a second sheet member connected to the other end of the heater, the first sheet member extends from the one end of the heater in a direction crossing the longitudinal direction, and the second sheet member extends from the other end of the heater in the longitudinal direction.
Fixing device with controlled heating and image forming apparatus
A fixing device includes a fixing rotator over which a recording medium bearing an image is conveyed. A first heater heats the fixing rotator and generates heat evenly in a maximum conveyance span where the recording medium having a maximum width in a width direction of the recording medium is conveyed. The maximum width is available for the fixing rotator. A second heater heats the fixing rotator and generates heat in the maximum conveyance span. The second heater includes a first portion that generates heat in a first heat generation amount and a second portion that generates heat in a second heat generation amount that is greater than the first heat generation amount of the first portion.
