Chip and supply item for imaging device, including communication
A supply item has toner for use in an imaging device. A chip has memory storing quanta indicating allowed usage of the supply item over its lifetime and a multiplier correlating the quanta to toner mass. The imaging device requires quanta to conduct imaging operations and loads the quanta and multiplier by way of a certificate stored in the memory. The imaging device retrieves quanta from the chip over time and both devices keep tally. Initialization between the supply item and imaging device includes providing encrypted and unencrypted instances of firmware versions and certificates from the supply item that the imaging device can compare for security. Alternatively, the supply item defines a fuser assembly, imaging unit, intermediate transfer member, or other component installed for use in the imaging device.
Antenna substrate, image forming apparatus
An antenna substrate includes a substrate, a modulating/demodulating circuit and a switch circuit each mounted on the substrate, and a printed antenna printed on the substrate. The printed antenna includes a plurality of unit coils. An end of one of the plurality of unit coils is electrically connected to the modulating/demodulating circuit. The switch circuit, according to a received control signal, selectively switches between an electrically interrupted state and a state in which a portion or all of the plurality of unit coils is electrically connected in series.
IMAGE FORMING APPARATUS CAPABLE OF DETERMINING WHETHER TONER CARTRIDGE IS ATTACHED TO APPROPRIATE SLOT PROVIDED IN MAIN CASING
An image forming apparatus includes: a drum cartridge to which one of a first toner cartridge and a second toner cartridge is attachable; a frame including a first slot and a second slot; and a controller including a control memory and a processor. The drum cartridge to which the one of the first toner cartridge and the second toner cartridges is attached is attachable to one of the first slot and the second slot. The control memory stores first color information allocated to the first slot, and second color information allocated to the second slot. In a state where the drum cartridge is attached to one of the first slot and the second slot and when the drum memory does not store any color information, the processor is configured to perform: writing, into the drum memory, one of the first color information and the second color information which is appropriate.
CRUM unit mountable in consumable unit of image forming apparatus and image forming apparatus using the same
A customer replacement unit monitor (CRUM) unit that can be mounted in an image forming apparatus includes a decoder which receives first clock signals from the image forming apparatus and converts the first clock signals into second clock signals, a memory which stores data related with a consumable unit, and a controller which manages the memory based on data signals transmitted from the image forming apparatus and the second clock signals. The first clock signals are divided into a data section in which the data signals are transmitted and received and an idle section in which the data signals are not transmitted and received. The first clock signals have a first frequency on the data section while having a second frequency on the idle section, and the second clock signals are clock signals maintaining a high value or a low value on the idle section.
Consumable Chip, Consumable and Consumable Communication Method
The present invention relates to the technical field of printer consumables, and particularly relates to a consumable chip, a consumable and a consumable communication method. A session key for communication authentication is determined based on a communication session chip count which is selected by the consumable chip and stored in a storage device. The calculation process of the communication session chip count is avoided, thereby increasing the response speed of the consumable chip for a read request of an imaging device, and reducing the error rate.
COMMUNICATION BETWEEN AN IMAGE FORMING DEVICE AND A REPLACEABLE SUPPLY ITEM
A toner container installable in an image forming device having a controller according to one example embodiment includes a housing having a reservoir for storing toner. A chip is positioned on the housing and configured to receive a first write command from the controller of the image forming device. The chip is further configured to determine whether a transmission cycle bit of the first write command matches a transmission cycle bit of a second write command received by the chip from the controller of the image forming device previous to the first write command. The chip is further configured to resend to the controller of the image forming device a response to the second write command if the transmission cycle bit of the first write command matches the transmission cycle bit of the second write command.
IMAGE FORMING APPARATUS
An authentication operation of a communication device is facilitated without making an outer appearance of an image forming apparatus complicated. An image forming apparatus 1 includes an image reading portion 41 for reading an original image, an image forming portion 44 for forming the image on a recording material, communication devices 32 and 33 capable of communication with a storing device 52 for storing information through rear-range wireless communication, and a mounting portion 23 to which the communication devices are mounted, and the mounting portion is provided between the image reading portion and the image forming portion.
Communication Between an Image Forming Device and a Replaceable Supply Item
A method of processing commands from a controller of an image forming device by a chip on supply item in the image forming device is described.
