Image forming apparatus having photosensitive members and blades in contact with respective photosensitive members
An image forming apparatus includes a fixing member, first and second image forming portions, and a processor. In the first and second image forming portions, first and second blades are respectively in contact with first and second photosensitive members. A distance between the first image forming portion and the fixing member is shorter than a distance between the second image forming portion and the fixing member. The processor controls a first image forming portion to perform a toner supply operation in which a first supply member supplies toner amounting to a first quantity per a prescribed rotation amount of the first photosensitive member, and controls the second image forming portion to perform a toner supply operation in which the second supply member supplies toner amounting to a second quantity per the prescribed rotation amount of the second photosensitive member. The second quantity is smaller than the first quantity.

Provided is a member for electrophotography that enables stable formation of a high-quality electrophotographic image even when used as a developing member over a long period of time. The member for electrophotography includes: a support; an electro-conductive elastic layer on the support; and a plurality of electrically insulating domains on the electro-conductive elastic layer, in which a surface of the member for electrophotography includes surfaces of the electrically insulating domains and an exposed portion of the electro-conductive elastic layer free of being covered by the electrically insulating domains, and in which the electrically insulating domains each contain a resin having a specific structure.
IMAGE FORMING APPARATUS
According to an embodiment, there is provided an image forming apparatus that forms a color image using a plurality of discolorable coloring materials and a plurality of non-discolorable coloring materials. In a case where insufficiency of at least one coloring material from among the plurality of discolorable coloring materials and the plurality of non-discolorable coloring materials is detected, the image forming apparatus performs color image formation using the plurality of discolorable coloring materials and the plurality of non-discolorable coloring material in combination.
Fixing Device
A nip member is disposed inside the endless belt and elongated in a longitudinal direction. A backup member sandwiches the endless belt against the nip member to form a nip portion at which the backup member and the endless belt are in contact with each other and configured to convey a recording sheet in a conveying direction perpendicular to the longitudinal direction. A downstream end of the nip portion in the conveying direction is arced with a longitudinal center portion thereof further upstream than longitudinal end portions thereof. The nip member includes a first portion sandwiching the endless belt against the backup member, and a second portion positioned downstream of the first portion in the conveying direction and bent in a direction away from the backup member. The second portion is arced with a longitudinal center portion thereof further upstream in the conveying direction than longitudinal end portions thereof.
Image forming apparatus
An image forming apparatus has a main body, a belt unit configured to accommodate a belt, a belt cleaning member and an accommodating unit. The belt cleaning unit is configured to remove waste toner adhered on the belt. The accommodating unit is configured to accommodate the toner removed by the belt cleaning unit. The apparatus further includes a drum unit having a drum cleaning member, and a waste toner conveying mechanism configured to convey the waste toner to the collecting unit. The conveying mechanism has a drum-side conveying unit configured to be connected with the drum cleaning member. Communication between the drum-side conveying unit and the collecting unit is enabled in association with movement of the drum unit from the outside position to the inside position, and disabled in association with movement of the drum unit from the inside position to the outside position.
Developer cartridge having developing roller and electrode
In a developing cartridge, a developing roller including a developing roller shaft is configured to rotate around a first rotational axis extending in predetermined extending direction and to carry developer thereon. The cartridge also includes a developing electrode formed of a conductive material and to be electrically connected to the developing roller shaft. The developing electrode includes a main part and a protrusion protruding from the main part in the extending direction. The protrusion has a first portion, which corresponds to a circumferential surface of the protrusion. The cartridge further includes a gear having gear teeth on circumferential portion of the gear. The gear rotates about the protrusion and includes a covering portion covering the first portion and being rotatable with the gear.

An image formation method includes: a first image formation misregistration correction processing that causes each image formation unit to form a misregistration amount detection pattern, obtains an image formation misregistration amount by detecting the patterns, and corrects an image formation misregistration based on the obtained image formation misregistration amount; comparison processing that compares a previous image formation misregistration amount with a latest image formation misregistration amount; and a second image formation misregistration correction processing that causes each image formation unit to form new misregistration amount detection patterns, obtains a new image formation misregistration amount by detecting the new patterns and corrects the image formation misregistration based on the obtained new image formation misregistration amount when receiving a new print job and if a difference between the previous image formation misregistration amount and the latest image formation misregistration amount is larger than a predetermined value.

An image forming apparatus includes an image carrier that carries a developer image formed by a developer including external additives, a charging member for charging the image carrier, a developer carrier that carries the developer, a developer supply member to which a supply voltage is applied for supplying the developer to the developer carrier, a main controller that controls an image formation mode for developing the developer image and controls a cleaning sequence mode for cleaning the charging member, and a voltage controller that changes outputs of the charging voltage, the development voltage and the supply voltage, and executes the cleaning sequence mode based on instructions of the main controller. When executing the cleaning sequence mode, the voltage controller makes an absolute value of the charging voltage larger than that in the image forming mode, and afterwards sets the output of the charging voltage to an OFF state.
