The drive unit reciprocates the cleaning unit along a path extending through the detection surfaces and differentiates a speed at which the cleaning unit is moved in a first direction along the path from a speed at which the cleaning unit is moved in a second direction opposite to the first direction.

A developer supplying device has a storage container, a detection sensor, and a cleaning member. The storage container stores developer. The detection sensor has a detection face making contact with the developer in the storage container and detects the amount of developer in the storage container. The cleaning member cleans the detection face by making contact with the detection face. The storage container has a sensor movement face formed arc-shaped about a predetermined center as seen in a sectional view. The detection sensor is configured to be movable in the up/down direction along the sensor movement face. The cleaning member rotates about the predetermined center as a rotation axis.

A developer container includes a container main body having an internal space and a developer discharge port; a movable wall moving in the internal space toward the developer discharge port; a detection surface which is a part of an inner peripheral surface that divides a storage space of a developer in the container main body and which becomes a detection region of a first detection sensor which detects the developer in the storage space; and a rotating body arranged in the storage space and capable of rotating around a rotary shaft along the first direction. The rotating body is mounted with a cleaning member which cleans the detection surface, a stirring member which stirs a developer in the storage space, and a detection target member to be a detection target of a second detection sensor which detects presence of the container main body.

A CPU controls a timing at which a clutch stops transmission of the driving force from the motor to the gear, based on a result of detection by a flag sensor that detects an amount of rotation of the gear, and a rotational speed of the motor.
