Photoelectric conversion device
A photoelectric conversion device includes: a wavelength converting region that absorbs ambient light to generate electrons and holes, and recombines the generated electrons and holes to generate monochromatic light; and a photoelectric conversion region that has a p-n junction or p-i-n junction, absorbs the monochromatic light generated in the wavelength converting region to generate electrons and holes, and separates and moves the electrons and holes generated by absorption of the monochromatic light. The wavelength converting region includes: a carrier generating region that generates the electrons and holes; a light emitting region that generates the monochromatic light; and a carrier selective transfer region that is disposed between the carrier generating region and the light emitting region and that, of the electrons and holes generated in the carrier generating region, moves those electrons and holes having specific energies difference there between to the light emitting region.
Mouthwash product and method of making and using the product
Described herein are systems for removing selected components, e.g., stabilizing agents or preservatives, from a liquid composition just prior to use, using activated charcoal or an affinity matrix filter, together with variant and alternative designs, methods of making and using the product, and components thereof.
BENEFIT DELIVERY PARTICLE
A hydrogel particle, comprising: a) a matrix, and b) a silicone or blend or silicones, wherein the silicone or blend of silicones has an average molecular weight of greater than 400 Da, and wherein the particle has an average diameter of 0.1 to 15 mm and wherein the silicone is present in an amount of from 5 to 40 wt %, preferably from 25 to 40 wt % by total weight of the particle.
Microbeads for dental use
A method for decreasing dental hypersensitivity, including sizing a plurality of non-functionalized microbeads to be between 0.01 μm to 3 μm in diameter, suspending the plurality of non-functionalized microbeads in a fluid matrix to define a dental delivery composition, introducing the dental delivery composition into an oral cavity, introducing respective non-functionalized microbeads into a dental tubule, adhering respective functionalized microbeads each other and to the dental tubule to define an aggregate, and occluding the dental tubule with the aggregate.
Methods and compositions of camel derived products
The present invention provides a composition, a dairy product, and a method for treating a disorder in a subject. The composition includes (i) polymeric nanoparticles and (ii) camel derived glycosaminoglycans (GAG)s ionic complex encapsulated into the nanoparticles, at least one active ingredient encapsulated into the nanoparticles, or combinations thereof. The nanoparticles are lactoferrin nanoparticles including camel derived lactoferrin, casein nanoparticles including camel derived casein, or combinations thereof. The dairy product includes ice cream or frozen yogurt, wherein the ice cream or frozen yogurt includes the composition and is derived from camel milk or other species of milk. The method for treating a disorder in a subject includes administering a therapeutic dose of the composition to the subject.
Morphogenetically Active Amorphous Calcium Polyphosphate Nanoparticles Containing Retinol For Therapeutic Applications
This invention concerns a calcium polyphosphate material consisting of amorphous nanoparticles with a diameter of approximately between about 45 nm to about 0.25 μm that displays a considerable hardness (elastic modulus) of about 1.3 GPa. The inventive noncrystalline and biodegradable material that is produced under mild conditions, at room temperature, is morphogenetically active and preferably induces bone formation and the expression of the marker gene for osteoblast activity, alkaline phosphatase. In a preferred aspect, the invention concerns a method for producing amorphous retinol/calcium-polyphosphate nanospheres (retinol/aCa-polyP-NS) that show several unexpected properties and can be used in the treatment or prophylaxis of a variety of dermatological conditions, including photoaging.
Bioactive Wound Dressing and Teeth Coating Based on Morphogenetically Active Amorphous Calcium Polyphosphate
This invention relates to a method for sealing dentinal tubules exposed at the tooth surface as a consequence of enamel defects, based on amorphous calcium polyphosphate (Ca-polyP) nano- or microparticles that strongly bind both to tooth enamel, cementum and dentin surfaces. The inventive method can also be used for the production of morphogenetically active tooth implants. A further aspect of this invention concerns the incorporation of such nano- or microparticles, after encapsulation of retinol (“retinol/aCa-polyP nano- or microspheres”), into wound dressings and related materials that are made, e.g., by electrospinning. The resulting, inventive retinol/aCa-polyP nano- or microspheres fiber mats show antimicrobial and wound healing properties and was found to increase the expression of the genes encoding for leptin and the leptin receptor, as well as the fatty acid binding protein 4 (FABP4) in a synergistic manner. This inventive material is the first material that can be used to promote wound healing through affecting the leptin/leptin receptor expression.

Chemical Formulations and Their Use in Neutralizing or Eliminating Odors
The present invention is a chemical formulation and method of using the chemical formulation to neutralize or eliminate odors on a surface. In one aspect, the chemical formulation is an aqueous solution of multi-valent citrate salts and a surfactant that may further comprise a fragrance and/or a color and/or a chelating agent. The method comprises the steps of applying this formulation in sufficient volume to saturate the surface thereby neutralizing or eliminating the odor. In another aspect, the formulation of multi-valent citrate salts may be applied in solid form to an odorous aqueous solution or may be used to coat an absorbent matrix that is expected to receive an odorous aqueous solution.
