A power management integrated circuit (PMIC) capable of operating, in memory systems, as a master control in power management in some situations and operating as a slave control in power management in other situations. For example, when used in a memory system operating on a SATA bus, the PMIC assumes the master control by monitoring the bus signals for entering or existing a sleep mode or a power shutdown mode, communicating to the controller of the memory system to prepare for the respective mode, and when ready, adjusting power states for the mode changes. For example, when used in a memory system operating on a PCIe bus, the PMIC assumes the slave control during a normal mode and a sleep mode, but the master control when the memory system is in a power disable mode in which the controller of the memory system is powered off.

Systems and methods are disclosed for reducing idle power usage of a storage device. The storage device can include a storage media configured, a data interface configured to connect to the host device, a media controller, and a bridge controller. The bridge controller can be further configured to, in response to receiving an idle status message from the media controller, save state data of the media controller, send a shutdown command to the media controller to stop it from using power. The bridge controller can be further configured to, in response to receiving a read operation or a write operation from the host device, start power to the media controller, provide the media controller with the saved state data, receive data responsive to the read operation or the write operation from the media controller, and transmit the responsive data to the host device.

A computing device may include a memory and a processor cooperating with the memory to generate connection leases for a plurality of client devices. The client devices may be configured to request virtual computing sessions from virtual delivery appliances in accordance with respective connection leases. Virtual delivery appliances within a first group may be configured to operate during off-peak hours, and virtual delivery appliances within a second group different than the first group may be configured not to operate during the off-peak hours. The processor may generate each connection lease to include at least one of the virtual delivery appliances from the first group.
