COSMETIC
A cosmetic having excellent properties in transparency, spreadability, smoothness, skin compatibility and safety is prepared using a synthetic talc that is flake-like particles containing 2:1-type laminar crystals of silicate which have a basic structure of an octahedron sheet sandwiched between two tetrahedron sheets. The flake-like particle has a mean volume particle diameter of 0.5 to 100 μm, and 0.3° or less of half width at half maximum of peak present at 2θ equal to 9.4°±1° when measured by unoriented powder X-ray diffractometry (XRD) using CuKα rays, and the cosmetic is substantially free of Mg.sub.3Si.sub.2O.sub.5(OH).sub.4.

APPARATUS AND METHODS FOR MODIFYING KERATINOUS SURFACES
An apparatus and method for depositing a particulate containing composition onto mammalian skin such that when the particles contact the mammalian skin they have a momentum defined by ρvr, which is within the range of about 0.1 kg/ms≦ρvr≦about 12.0 kg/ms. The particles can be in the range of from about 10 nanometers to about 10 micrometers, in size. And the particles may be selected from the group consisting of titanium dioxide, zinc oxide, iron oxide, polyethylene, polypropylene, polyethylene terephthalate, polycarbonate, polyvinyl chloride, glass, silica and mixtures thereof. The particles are imbedded below the first layer of dead skin cells in the stratum corneum but they do not pass all the way through the stratum corneum into the living cells of the epidermis or dermis layers of the skin.

An anhydrous topical composition provides a water repellent surface. The anhydrous topical composition has at least one film former with surface tension lower than 35 dynes/cm, at least one particle having a hydrophobic surface or a hydrophobic surface treatment, and a volatile topical carrier.

Disclosed are a pharmaceutical composition, cosmetic product, and food or drink product each comprising a porous ceramic obtained by combustion synthesis of a starting material comprising (1) titanium and (2) at least one member selected from the group consisting of carbon, boron, nitrogen, and silicon; a pharmaceutical composition and cosmetic product each comprising a radical- and nanobubble-containing liquid; and a blood treatment device comprising a blood flow channel for extracorporeal circulation of a patient's blood, the blood flow channel being provided with the porous ceramic above, and the porous ceramic and the blood are brought into contact with each other.

MAKEUP COSMETIC
Provided is a makeup cosmetic having bright fluorescent colouring whilst still having excellent transparency (being clear), and a cosmetic colouring material that is suitable for the cosmetic. The makeup cosmetic comprises (A) at least one kind of oil-soluble dye selected from the group consisting of red no. 218, red no. 223 and orange no. 201, (B) particles of a specific material selected from hydroxyapatite, calcium carbonate, a metal oxide (other than ferric oxide) and silica, and (C) oil, wherein the blending amount of pigment is not greater than 0.5 mass %, and the blending amount of water is less than 1.5 mass %. The makeup cosmetic, achieves high luminance fluorescent colouring whilst also having excellent transparency, and can be used as a lip cosmetic, blusher or eye shadow.
