A remote controller for providing a force input in a media system and a method for operating the same are disclosed. The remote controller comprises: at least one of a navigation key, a determination key or a function key, a first sensing unit configured to sense a coordinate of the key, a second sensing unit configured to sense one or more of pressure and an area applied to the key by a means for selecting the key, and a control signal unit. Here, one or more sensing levels are set to the key. The control signal unit outputs a control signal including a control information concerning the determined sensing level, the control information includes the coordinate of the selected key and information concerning the pressure or the area applied when the key is selected, and plural sensing levels from the same key are matched with different function or screen.

CHARACTER INPUT METHOD AND DISPLAY APPARATUS

A display apparatus is provided. The display apparatus includes: a display configured to display a virtual keyboard; an inputter configured to receive a stroke input on a key on the virtual keyboard; and a controller configured to display a character which corresponds to the key in an input window in response to the stroke input being received, and configured to perform a control operation to suggest at least one character that is likely to follow a character which corresponds to the key and display the at least one suggested character. The at least one suggested character is displayed so as not to overlap a character of a basic key on the virtual keyboard.

User-interface for entering alphanumerical characters

An information processing system has a display monitor and a user-interface for text entry. The display monitor presents the set of alphanumerical characters in a spatial configuration of three parallel horizontal rows or three parallel vertical columns. The “left”-button and the “right” button of the directional buttons of the user-interface control the selection of a group of alphanumerical characters, one of each of the three parallel arrays and positioned in the same column. The “up”-button and the “down”-button of the directional buttons and the “OK”-button, sitting in between, are used to select a specific one of the alphanumerical characters from the selected group.

A navigation learning system learns the field sequence that a given user uses to enter data into a given form. When the user completes entering data in a first field and performs a key-based navigation action (such as by actuating the tab key), a form navigation component identifies the next most likely field, into which the user will be entering data, and navigates the cursor to the identified field.

Technologies are disclosed for launching an application or service on a smart media device, such as a smart TV, set top box, or smart phone. An input mechanism, that is responsive to manual gestures of a user, generates signals that control a display associated with the smart media device. A first user gesture causes the processor to generate a menu that includes an image of a plurality of images that correspond to a first plurality of preselected applications and/or services. A second user gesture causes the processor to launch the application or service on the menu that is identified as desired for selection by the user. Preferably, the input mechanism is either a remote control unit, a keyboard, a handheld smart media device, or a smart phone.
