Live tiles without application-code execution
Techniques enabling live tiles without application-code execution are described. These techniques permit live content to be presented in tiles without executing code of applications associated with those tiles. By so doing, live tiles may be presented more safely, faster, or using fewer resources.
Upgrading DevOps tools in DevOps toolchains
The present invention extends to methods, systems, and computer program products for upgrading DevOps tools in DevOps toolchains. An upgraded version of a DevOps platform tool is detected. A snapshot of an existing tool image corresponding to a current version of the DevOps platform tool is taken. Cloud service provider profile information, existing tool profile information corresponding to the existing tool image, and replacement tool profile information corresponding to replacement tool image are accessed. A DevOps platform is upgraded including deploying a replacement tool image corresponding to the upgraded version in accordance with the cloud service provider profile information, the existing tool profile information, the replacement tool profile information, and a DevOps platform category. When the upgrade is complete, the existing tool image is removed and the DevOps platform pointed to the replacement tool image. The snapshot is retained in accordance with rollback settings.
Systems and Methods for Platform-Independent Application Publishing to a Front-End Interface
Provided are computer-implemented methods and systems for publishing an application to a web container. An example method for publishing an application to a web container may include establishing a channel of communication with a user device associated with an end user. The method may further include embedding a web container into a web portal associated with a plurality of applications. The method may include executing an application in a user session associated with the end user. The method may further include capturing images of a virtual screen associated with the application executed on the application server. After the capture, the method may continue with sending the images to the web container of the web portal running in a web browser of the user device. The web container may publish the images to the web browser to display the application as part of the web portal in the web browser.
Internet of things language setting system
A programmable device is configured to detect a user preferred language from one or more other devices. When the programmable device is automatically programmed, the device provides a complete, seamless integrated experience and a user can immediately interact with the programmable device in a known language. The preferred device language can be set by reference to a user device, such as a phone, tablet, and/or other personal electronic device, by reference to one or more additional programmable devices in communication with the programmable device, and/or reference to a remote server storing the language preference of the user.
System and method for optimizing provisioning time by dynamically customizing a shared virtual machine
Technology for generating, building, maintaining and sharing a pool of virtual environments. The virtual environments (for example, virtual machines) are instantiated and active prior to a request from a user to use a virtual environments. Delta maps are used to help match the request to the best-suited active virtual environment. The delta map is a data set that indicates differences between specification values of a given active virtual environment and specification values needed to reliably fulfill the user's request.
Modular user profile overlay
In one embodiment, a social networking system receives a selection of a user in a first user interface, accesses one or more data stores for the user's user profile information, constructs a frame containing the user's user profile information, and displays the frame overlaying the first user interface.
Profile transmission method, related device, and storage medium
Embodiments of this application disclose a profile transmission method, a related device, and a storage medium, to ensure that a terminal can download a profile to a corresponding OS. This improves accuracy of downloading the profile by the terminal. The method in the embodiments of this application includes: when the terminal runs a first operating system OS, obtaining, by the terminal, a second OS identifier, where the second OS identifier matches a second profile; switching, by the terminal, to a second OS based on the second OS identifier; sending, by the terminal, a target message to a server, where the target message is used to request the second profile; and obtaining, by the terminal, the second profile from the server.
Mobile ad hoc networking
In one embodiment, a method comprising by one or more computing devices, transmitting, from a first mobile device, a first message that includes a first user identifier corresponding to a first user of the first mobile device, wherein the first user identifier corresponds to a user account of the first user in a social-networking system, receiving, at the first mobile device, one or more second messages that includes a second user identifier corresponding to a second mobile device within a direct radio connectivity of the first mobile device, wherein the second user identifier corresponds to a respective user account of a second user in the social-networking system, and storing, at the first mobile device, information received in the second message for access by one or more applications hosted on the first mobile device.
Secondary account creation
Techniques are described that enable a user to create a secondary user account on a social networking system that shares a unique identifier with a primary user account. In some cases, a social networking system receives a first request to create a first user account, where the first request comprises a unique identifier such as a phone number or email address associated with a user. The social networking system creates the first user account associated with the unique identifier. The social networking system then receives a second request to create a second user account, where the second request also comprises the unique identifier associated with the user. The social networking system creates the second user account associated with the unique identifier.
Server side crossfading for progressive download media
In exemplary embodiments of the present invention systems and methods are provided to implement and facilitate cross-fading, interstitials and other effects/processing of two or more media elements in a personalized media delivery service so that each client or user has a consistent high quality experience. The effects or crossfade processing can occur on the broadcast, publisher or server-side, but can still be personalized to a specific user, thus still allowing a personalized experience for each individual user, in a manner where the processing burden is minimized on the downstream side or client device. This approach enables a consistent user experience, independent of client device capabilities, both static and dynamic. The cross-fade can be implemented after decoding the relevant chunks of each component clip, processing, recoding and rechunking, or, in a preferred embodiment, the cross-fade or other effect can be implemented on the relevant chunks to the effect in the compressed domain, thus obviating any loss of quality by re-encoding. A large scale personalized content delivery service can be implemented by limiting the processing to essentially the first and last chunks of any file, since there is no need to processing the full clip. In exemplary embodiments of the present invention this type of processing can easily be accommodated in cloud computing technology, where the first and last files may be conveniently extracted and processed within the cloud to meet the required load. Processing may also be done locally, for example, by the broadcaster, with sufficient processing power to manage peak load.
