OPERATING SYSTEM PARTITIONING OF DIFFERENT USERS FOR SINGLE-USER APPLICATIONS

Examples described herein generally relate to a computer device including a memory, and at least one processor configured to partition application files for multiple users of the computer device. The computer device creates a per-user location for a first user when installing an application package to an installation location. The application package includes a plurality of files for an application that are read-only for the first user. The computer device projects, via one or more filter drivers, installed package files from the installation location into the per-user location. The computer device receives a modification to the plurality of files for the application projected into the per-user location. The computer device writes at least one modified file into the per-user location. The computer device loads, during execution of the application by the first user, the at least one modified file from the per-user location for the first user.

Automatic content transfer

A computing system with multiple devices local to an environment facilitates active transfer among the multiple devices as a user moves about the environment. The devices may sense a presence or non-presence of the user and attempt to coordinate transfer to a device proximal to the user. In another implementation, the devices may communicate with a remote system that monitors a location of the user within the environment and causes content associated with the user to transfer between computing devices of the system based on the location and movement of the user.

Modification of program code for execution in a multi-tenant or distributed computing environment

Program code, such the program code of an application program, can be modified to permit the program code to execute in a multi-tenant execution environment. For example, program code might be modified at compile time, run time, or at another time, in order to enable the program code to properly operate in an execution environment in which applications might be simultaneously executed in process by multiple tenants. Program code might also be modified at run time to enable the program code to execute in a distributed fashion in a distributed computing environment. For example, portions of the program code might be configured at run time to execute in different instances of an execution environment. The program code might be modified at run time to enable the program code to properly execute in multiple instances of the execution environment.

Multiplatform and multichannel distribution of web applications across devices

A method for installation of user device configured web applications includes receiving a request to install a web application, determining if the request is from a user device or a sync server, determining information about the web application based on at least one of a configuration, a platform and a setting associated with the user device, revising the determined information about the web application if the request is from the sync server, determining a logical location of stored files based on the web application and at least one of the configuration, the platform and the setting associated with the user device, and installing the web application using files stored in the determined logical location.

Server side crossfading for progressive download media
09767849 · 2017-09-19 · ·

Systems and methods are provided to implement and facilitate cross-fading, interstitials and other effects/processing of two or more media elements in a personalized media delivery service. Effects or crossfade processing can occur on the broadcast, publisher or server-side, but can still be personalized to a specific user, in a manner that minimizes processing on the downstream side or client device. The cross-fade can be implemented after decoding the relevant chunks of each component clip, processing, recoding and rechunking, or, the cross-fade or other effect can be implemented on the relevant chunks to the effect in the compressed domain, thus obviating any loss of quality by re-encoding. A large scale personalized content delivery service can limit the processing to essentially the first and last chunks of any file, there being no need to processing the full clip.

A method for configuring a set of one or more computing devices, includes generating, for a computing device of the set of one or more computing devices, a job profile based at least in part on a master profile, the master profile being generated based at least in part on configuration information common to a model of the computing device and job specific input including configuration information specific to the computing device of the set of one or more computing devices. The method further includes coupling the computing device of the set of one or more computing devices into communication with a pre-configuration device; and configuring, by the pre-configuration device, the computing device of the set of one or more computing devices based at least in part on the generated job profile.

Application synchronization across multiple computers
09769258 · 2017-09-19 · ·

A method for synchronizing a set of one or more individual web apps and/or browser extensions to a user's computing device includes sending, from a server, one or more application stubs corresponding to the individual web apps or browser extensions in the set to the computing device. The method further includes establishing the ordered synchronization schedule prioritizing synchronization of the individual web apps or browser extensions in the set by size and/or a likelihood of use of the individual web apps or browser extensions on the user's computing device. The method involves sending, from the server to the computing device, application data including executable code associated with the individual web apps or browser extensions to synchronize the individual web apps or browser extensions in the set according to the ordered synchronization sequence.

Connected provisioning

Disclosed are various embodiments for provisioning client devices. A configuration file previously installed on the computing device can be read. The configuration file can contain a provisioning address. Then, a user account is automatically created using a predefined username and credential stored in the configuration file. Next, an enrollment request can be sent to the provisioning address to enroll the computing device with a provisioning service using the user account. In response, an enrollment response can be received from the provisioning service. The computing device can then be configured based upon the enrollment response.

A method for configuring a first computer executable program includes through a user interface, receiving information indicative of a source of data and a data target; through the user interface, receiving a characterization of a process, the characterization including a type of the process and values for respective characteristics associated with the process. The method includes based on the received information, automatically assigning values to respective parameters of the first computer executable program to cause the first computer executable program to, when executed, receive data from the source of data and output data to the data target. The method includes based on the received characterization of the process, automatically configuring the first computer executable program to reference a second computer executable program. The configuring includes identifying the second computer executable program based on the type of the process; and assigning values to respective parameters of the second computer executable program based on the values for the respective characteristics associated with the process.

Device configuration with multiple profiles for a single user using remote user biometrics

An electronic device receives data associated with at least one biometric detected by a sensor of a remote control device that is operable to transmit one or more instructions to the electronic device. A profile for a user associated with the data is determined out of a number of profiles for the user based on the data. The electronic device is then be configured in one or more ways according to the determined user profile. A user may have any number of different profiles for the electronic device, each associated with a different biometric or combination of biometrics. In this way, a user may easily access different experiences with the same device that may each be fully personalized in a different way and/or for a particular purpose.
