Fault isolation and recovery of CPU cores for failed secondary asymmetric multiprocessing instance

According to certain embodiments, a system includes one or more processors and one or more computer-readable non-transitory storage media comprising instructions that, when executed by the one or more processors, cause one or more components to perform operations including executing a software process of a secondary instance, the secondary instance running in parallel with a primary instance and associated with a plurality of cores including a bootstrap core, registering a non-maskable interrupt for the bootstrap core in the secondary instance, determining whether the secondary instance is in a fault state, wherein, if the secondary instance is in the fault state, halting the plurality of cores associated with the secondary instance, without impact to the primary instance, and recovering the bootstrap core by switching a context of the bootstrap core from the secondary instance to the primary instance via the non-maskable interrupt.

CUSTOM BASEBOARD MANAGEMENT CONTROLLER (BMC) FIRMWARE STACK MONITORING SYSTEM AND METHOD

An Information Handling System (IHS) includes multiple hardware devices, and a baseboard Management Controller (BMC) in communication with multiple hardware devices of the IHS. The BMC includes executable instructions for monitoring a parameter of one or more of the hardware devices when a custom BMC firmware stack is executed on the BMC. The instructions that monitor the parameter are separate and distinct from the instructions of the custom BMC firmware stack. The instructions also control the BMC to perform one or more operations to remediate an excessive parameter when the parameter exceeds a specified threshold.

Memory channels calibration during boot wherein channels are calibrated in parallel based on identifers

In an embodiment, a system includes an energy source and an integrated circuit that is coupled to one or more memory devices via a plurality of memory channels. A memory controller in the integrated circuit is programmable with a plurality of identifiers corresponding to the plurality of channels, and is further programmable with a command and a first identifier associated with the command. Responsive to the command, the memory controller is configured to perform one or more calibrations on a subset of the plurality of channels for which corresponding identifiers of the plurality of identifiers match the first identifier. Other ones of the plurality of channels, for which the corresponding identifiers do not match the first identifier, do not perform the calibration.

System and method for improving detection and capture of a host system catastrophic failure

An information handling system includes a non-volatile storage device communicatively coupled to a boot processor and an application processor. The boot processor, prior to the execution of a hang sensitive transaction, stores information associated with the hang sensitive transaction at a memory device. The application processor is configured to detect a catastrophic failure of the hang sensitive transaction. In response to the detection of the catastrophic failure, the application processor retrieves the information stored at the memory device and store the information at the non-volatile storage device.

High Availability and Software Upgrades in Network Software

Ensuring the high availability of a Passive Optical Network (PON). A broadband network architecture comprises (a) at least a portion of optical fiber in a communication path to individual subscriber premises, (b) one or more software-implemented Optical Line Terminal (OLT) Controllers, (c) one or more software-implemented Service Provisioning Applications (SPAs), and (d) one or more software-implemented Broadband Network Gateways (BNGs). Each of the one or more OLT Controllers, one or more SPAs, and one or more BNGs execute on Commercial Off-the-Shelf (COTS) computer systems and entirely upon a plurality of protection groups. Each of the plurality of protection groups consists of a plurality of pods. The pods in a particular protection group which are active are dynamically adjusted to ensure the high availability of the broadband network architecture.

Recovery from corruption

In some examples, a device includes a processor, a core hardware logic to execute instructions to perform a task in the device, and a controller separate from the processor. The controller detects corruption of the instructions, and in response to detecting the corruption, load a recovery code to the core hardware logic to trigger recovery of the core hardware logic from the corruption of the instructions.

SECURITY INSPECTIONS

In some examples, a method for performing an out-of-band security inspection of a device comprises generating a snapshot of the state of the device, storing data representing the snapshot to a non-volatile storage of the device, and storing a hash of the snapshot in a device BIOS, transitioning the power state of the device, triggering boot of a trusted diskless operating system image, providing the data representing the snapshot and the hash of the snapshot to the trusted diskless operating system image, and executing a script selected on the basis of a trigger event and the hash of the snapshot to analyse at least a portion of the non-volatile storage of the device.

ELECTRONIC DEVICE AND METHOD FOR INITIALIZING ELECTRONIC DEVICE

The present disclosure refers to apparatuses and methods for initializing electronic devices. An electronic device according to various embodiments includes a memory, and a processor operatively connected to the memory. The processor is configured to record, in the memory, software binaries received from an external device during a download mode. The processor is further configured to, when the download mode has ended, perform booting in a normal mode using a bootloader based on a determination indicating that a predetermined software binary is present among the software binaries recorded in the memory, and perform booting in a recovery mode using the bootloader based on the determination indicating that the predetermined software binary is absent from among the software binaries recorded in the memory.

BATTERIES HEALTH STATUS DETERMINATIONS

In an example, a computing device may include a battery, a controller to monitor an operation of the battery, and a basic input/output system (BIOS). The BIOS may initiate a boot process to load an operating system of the computing device. Further, the BIOS may obtain information associated with the operation of the battery from the controller during the boot process. Furthermore, the BIOS may update a log data structure to record the obtained information. Also, the BIOS may determine a health status of the battery based on the updated log data structure and output a notification, during the boot process, indicative of health of the battery based on the determined health status.
