SYSTEMS AND METHODS TO FLUSH DATA IN PERSISTENT MEMORY REGION TO NON-VOLATILE MEMORY USING AUXILIARY PROCESSOR

A computing system that enables data stored in a persistent memory region to be preserved when a processor fails can include volatile memory comprising the persistent memory region, non-volatile memory, and a system on a chip (SoC). The SoC can include a main processor that is communicatively coupled to both the volatile memory and the non-volatile memory. The SoC can also include an auxiliary processor that is communicatively coupled to both the volatile memory and the non-volatile memory. The SoC can also include instructions that are executable by the auxiliary processor to cause the data in the persistent memory region of the volatile memory to be transferred to the non-volatile memory in response to a failure of the main processor.

PROCESSING COMMUNICATION SESSIONS

A virtualized computing environment of a telecommunications network comprises a cluster of virtual machines with a one-to-one ratio of active and backup virtual machines. One or more additional clusters of virtual machines have a N-to-K ratio of active and backup virtual machines where N>K. The backup virtual machines are configured to provide failover capacity for processing communications sessions in an event of a failure of one of the active virtual machines. A cluster redundancy capability indicates the ratio of the active and backup virtual machines for that cluster. A predetermined type associated with a requested communication session is determined. A cluster having a cluster redundancy capability corresponding to the predetermined type is selected. Data for the requested communication session is sent to an active virtual machine in the selected cluster.

FAILOVER AND FAILBACK OF DISTRIBUTED FILE SERVERS

An example file server manager updates a selected share of a destination distributed file server based on a snapshot of at least a portion of a selected share of a source distributed file server. The selected share of the destination distributed file server is updated while the source distributed file server serves client requests for storage items of the selected share of the source distributed file server. The file server manager receives a request to failover from the source distributed file server to the destination distributed file server and configures the destination distributed file server to service read and write requests for storage items of the selected share of the destination distributed file server. The file server manager further redirects client requests for storage items of the selected share of the source distributed file server to the destination distributed file server by updating active directory information.

Pod migration across nodes of a cluster

Example techniques for pod migration across nodes of a cluster are described. In an example, in response to receiving a request to migrate a pod from a first region of a cloud computing platform to a second region of the cloud computing platform, the pod may be migrated from a first node in the first region to a second node in the second region. The first node and the second node may each be a part of a cluster of nodes.

Database optimization using record correlation and intermediate storage media

An embodiment includes deriving usage data associated with records of a database by monitoring requests to perform read operations on the records of the database. The embodiment generates record correlation data representative of correlations between respective groups of records of the database by parsing the usage data associated with the records of the database. The embodiment stores a plurality of records received as respective write requests during a first time interval in an intermediate storage medium. The embodiment identifies a correlation in the record correlation data between a first record of the plurality of records and a second record of the plurality of records. The embodiment selects, responsive to identifying the correlation, a first location in the database for writing the first record and a second location in the database for writing the second record based on a proximity of the first location to the second location.

MACHINE LEARNING MODEL FOR STORAGE SYSTEM
20230039564 · 2023-02-09 ·

Data associated with storage media utilized by one or more storage systems is received. The data is provided as an input to a machine learning model executed by a processing device. The machine learning model identifies one or more deterministic characteristics from the data. The one or more deterministic characteristics associated with the storage media are received from the machine learning model. A data structure comprising the one or more deterministic characteristics is generated for use in a telemetry process to qualify types of storage media.

Zero copy host interface in a scalable input/output (I/O) virtualization (S-IOV) architecture

Examples may include a computing platform having a host driver to get a packet descriptor of a received packet stored in a receive queue and to modify the packet descriptor from a first format to a second format. The computing platform also includes a guest virtual machine including a guest driver coupled to the host driver, the guest driver to receive the modified packet descriptor and to read a packet buffer stored in the receive queue using the modified packet descriptor, the packet buffer corresponding to the packet descriptor.

HETEROGENEOUS INDEXING AND LOAD BALANCING OF BACKUP AND INDEXING RESOURCES

Indexing preferences generally associate each data source with a type of indexing technology and/or with an index/catalog and/or with a computing device that hosts the index/catalog for tracking backup data generated from the source data. Indexing preferences govern which index/catalog receives transaction logs for a given storage operation. Thus, indexing destinations are defined granularly and flexibly in reference to the source data. Load balancing without user intervention assures that the various index/catalogs are fairly distributed in the illustrative backup systems by autonomously initiating migration jobs. Criteria for initiating migration jobs are based on past usage and going-forward trends. An illustrative migration job re-associates data sources with a different destination media agent and/or index/catalog, including transferring some or all relevant transaction logs and/or indexing information from the old host to the new host.

3D STACKED INTEGRATED CIRCUITS HAVING FUNCTIONAL BLOCKS CONFIGURED TO PROVIDE REDUNDANCY SITES
20230033072 · 2023-02-02 ·

A three-dimensional stacked integrated circuit (3D SIC) that can have at least a first 3D XPoint (3DXP) die and, in some examples, can have at least a second 3DXP die too. In such examples, the first 3DXP die and the second 3DXP die can be stacked. The 3D SIC can be partitioned into a plurality of columns that are perpendicular to each of the stacked dies. In such examples, when a first column of the plurality of columns is determined as failing, data stored in the first column can be replicated to a second column of the plurality of columns. Also, for example, when a part of a first column of the plurality of columns is determined as failing, data stored in the part of the first column can be replicated to a corresponding part of a second column of the plurality of columns.

A control unit is configured to determine success or failure of a rewrite process after end of the rewrite process, and write success or failure display data into a success or failure determination result storage area in accordance with the success or failure, and read the success or failure display data present in the success or failure determination result storage area after startup of an electronic device, and execute a control program, in lieu of carrying out the rewrite process, when it is determined that the success or failure display data indicate a success of the rewrite process.
