Biological devices for producing oxidized zinc and applications thereof
Described herein are biological devices and methods for using the same to produce oxidized zinc. The biological devices include microbial cells transformed with a DNA construct containing genes for producing a zinc-related protein, an alkaline phosphatase, and an alcohol dehydrogenase. In some instances, the biological devices also include a gene for lipase. The oxidized zinc compositions produced herein have numerous applications.
Trace element compositions, methods of making and use
Injectable compositions that can be added to parenteral nutrition are provided. In particular, a stable injectable composition is provided which includes water, and at least one of about 800 μg to about 4,000 μg of zinc, about 40 μg to about 400 μg of copper, from about 4 μg to about 90 μg of selenium, or from about 1 μg to about 80 μg of manganese per 1 mL of the injectable composition. Methods of preparing and using of the stable injectable composition are also provided.
Polymer particles
Biodegradable, cross-linked polymer particle embolics and methods of making the same are described. The particle embolics can be used as embolization agents.
Immunostimulatory preparation exhibiting antitumor activity
The proposed preparation and methods relate to medicinal microbiology and pharmacology, and relate to preparations exhibiting an immunostimulatory effect, which may be used for the prevention and treatment of oncological diseases. The essence of the preparation and methods consists in a primary component of the preparation including a polyvalent corpuscular antigen, prepared on the basis of Treponema pallidum culture strains. The proposed preparation exhibits an immunostimulatory effect, with a primary influence on components of T-cell immunity. The proposed preparation, in a preventative therapeutic application, is effective with regard to tumors of various histogenesis.
3-HYDROXYBUTYRATE ALONE OR IN COMBINATION FOR USE IN THE TREATMENT OF CRITICAL CARE TREATMENT
This invention relates generally to methods and compositions for the treatment or prevention of critical illness myopathy and critical illness polyneuropathy and of critical illness myopathy and critical illness polyneuropathy caused by critical illnesses including sepsis, severe sepsis, severe sepsis with septic shock, and particularly to the use of a combination of parenteral or enteral feeding with a 3-hydroxybutyrate.
MULTIBIOTIC AGENTS AND METHODS OF USING THE SAME
Multibiotic agents are disclosed. The multibiotic agents may contain two or more moieties linked through bonds cleavable in vivo. The bonds cleavable in vivo can be ester bonds, amide bonds, azo bonds, glycosidic bonds, carbonate linkers, or carbamate linkers. The moieties can be alcohol cores, amine cores, and/or acyls. Also disclosed are compositions containing multibiotic agents and methods of using the multibiotic agents.
Compounds, compositions, and methods for the treatment of disease
Disclosed are compounds and compositions for the activation or induction of expression of a pattern recognition receptor (e.g., STING, RIG-I, MDA5), and methods of use thereof.
Multi-arm polymer conjugates of TLR agonist compounds and related immunotherapeutic treatment methods
Provided are multi-arm polymer conjugates of Toll-Like Receptor (“TLR”) agonists such as TLR 7/8 agonists, as well as related compositions, and methods of making and using such conjugates. Exemplary conjugates are encompassed by Formula I: (I) or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt form thereof, where R, taken together with each Q, is a residue of a polyol, polythiol, or polyamine bearing from 3 to about 50 hydroxyl, thiol, or amino groups; each Q is a linker selected from oxygen, sulfur and —NH; each POLY is independently a water-soluble, non-peptidic polymer; each Xr is independently a linkage-containing spacer moiety; q is a positive integer from 3 to about 50; and each TLR 7/8 AG is a Toll-like receptor 7/8 agonist. Also provided is a method of administering to a patient having cancer (a) an IL-2Rβ-activating amount of a long-acting, IL-2Rβ-selective agonist; and (b) a Toll-like receptor agonist such as a conjugate as described above, as well as related compositions, kits and methods.
