INTRAUTERINE DEVICE WITH RETRIEVAL THREAD
An intrauterine contraceptive system may include a contraceptive intrauterine device, a retrieval thread permanently attached to the intrauterine device and an insertion device for inserting the intrauterine device into a uterus. The system may also include a release thread releasably coupled with the intrauterine device. The intrauterine device may be deployable out of a distal end of the insertion device and may be configured to change from a delivery configuration when housed in the insertion device to a deployed configuration when deployed in a uterus. The retrieval thread and the optional release thread may be at least partially housed within the insertion device during insertion of the intrauterine device into the uterus. The release thread may extend from the intrauterine device through the insertion device to an attachment point at or near a proximal end of the insertion device.
SURFACE TOPOGRAPHIES FOR NON-TOXIC BIOADHESION CONTROL
Disclosed herein is an article that includes a first plurality of spaced features. The spaced features are arranged in a plurality of groupings; the groupings of features include repeat units; the spaced features within a grouping are spaced apart at an average distance of about 1 nanometer to about 500 micrometers; each feature having a surface that is substantially parallel to a surface on a neighboring feature; each feature being separated from its neighboring feature; the groupings of features being arranged with respect to one another so as to define a tortuous pathway. The plurality of spaced features provide the article with an engineered roughness index of about 5 to about 20.

System for delivery of medication in treatment of disorders of the pelvis
A system for delivery of medication in treatment of disorders of the pelvis is disclosed. The system includes a medicament applied to an implantable device and an insertion tool. The implantable device has a first end opposite from a second end, with the first end of the implantable device insertable into tissue within the pelvis. A retrieval string is coupled to the second end of the implantable device. The insertion tool includes a shaft extending between a proximal end and a distal end, with a handle coupled to the proximal end of the insertion tool and the distal end of the insertion tool is adapted to couple with the implantable device. The handle includes a notch adapted to releasably secure the retrieval string.
ULIPRISTAL ACETATE FOR PREVENTION AND TREATMENT OF BREAST TUMORS
The invention relates to the use of ulipristal acetate, or any of its metabolites, in preventing or treating a breast tumor in a patient, preferably a patient that carries a mutation in BRCA1 gene.
INTRAUTERINE SYSTEMS COMPRISING ANTI-INFECTIVES FOR STEADY-STATE ACCUMULATION TO DISTAL EXTRAUTERINE TISSUE
An intrauterine system configured to be retained in a uterus of a patient, the intrauterine system including a delivery system configured to deliver one or more active compounds, where the one or more active compounds have non-systemic extrauterine biological targets. Further, a method of using the intrauterine system, including retaining the intrauterine system in a uterus, and delivering the one or more active compounds to non-systemic extrauterine biological targets in the lower female reproductive tract (LFRT) or the rectum.
AMMONIA OXIDIZING MICROORGANISMS FOR USE AND DELIVERY TO THE UROGENITAL SYSTEM
Ammonia oxidizing microorganism preparations for delivery to the urogenital system, kits including ammonia oxidizing preparations for delivery to the urogenital system, and devices for administering ammonia oxidizing preparations to the urogenital system are provided. Methods of introducing ammonia oxidizing microorganisms to the urogenital system are provided. Methods of treating disorders, including urogenital disorders and inflammatory disorders, with ammonia oxidizing microorganism preparations are provided.
Long acting drug delivery device and its use in contraception
The invention relates to a method for altering the release characteristics of a long acting drug delivery device containing at least two drugs in different segments, wherein the segments are arranged to a specific sequence. The invention furthermore relates to a drug delivery device with reduced initial burst containing two different drugs in different segments. The invention further relates to a delivery device manufactured according to the a.m. method and its use in contraception and gynecological therapies.
Elastic sheet with function of re-activating endometrial basal layer in uterine cavity and forming method thereof
An elastic sheet for re-activating an endometrial basal layer in a uterine cavity comprises a silicone rubber and a drug, wherein the drug is encased inside the silicone rubber in the manner of a drug storage zone, or uniformly dispersed inside the silicone rubber, or carried by an outer surface of the silicone rubber as a coating, and the drug comprises an estrogen. A method for forming the elastic sheet with a drug in a matrix-type elastic sheet; or as a sustained release coating is provided. The estrogen is loaded on the silicone rubber, and thus the endometrial basal layer is continuously activated through drug stimulation, allowing for the endometrial basal layer to re-proliferate the functional layers, thereby restoring the normal endometrial structure and completely preventing adhesions.
