20230086123 · 2023-03-23 ·

Disclosed in the present application are a multi-shared directory tree-oriented control method and system. The method includes: setting a number of circular queues and a number of worker execution units in a Samba configuration file of a server according to a number of directories to be shared; running a Samba main process on the server; obtaining a data read-write test request from a client; and orienting request tasks of individual directories to individual worker execution units according to the data read-write test request by using a Server Message Block (SMB) message header data-based adaptive equalization control algorithm. The system includes an Input/Output (IO) execution unit, a plurality of worker execution units, a setting unit, a request obtaining unit, and a concurrency control unit. According to the present application, the data processing efficiency of a Samba server and the data processing efficiency of a client may be effectively improved.

Congestion mitigation in a distributed storage system

A system comprises a plurality of computing devices that are communicatively coupled via a network and have a file system distributed among them, and comprises one or more file system request buffers residing on one or more of the plurality of computing devices. File system choking management circuitry that resides on one or more of the plurality of computing devices is operable to separately control: a first rate at which a first type of file system requests (e.g., one of data requests, data read requests, data write requests, metadata requests, metadata read requests, and metadata write requests) are fetched from the one or more buffers, and a second rate at which a second type of file system requests (e.g., another of data requests, data read requests, data write requests, metadata requests, metadata read requests, and metadata write requests) are fetched from the one or more buffers.

LOAD BALANCING COMBINING BLOCK AND FILE STORAGE
20220342598 · 2022-10-27 ·

A technique for performing load balancing between storage nodes includes generating a first performance metric for volumes accessed through a first storage node and generating a second performance metric for volumes accessed through a second storage node. The volumes accessed through the first storage node include a set of volumes that belong to a NAS (network-attached storage) file server hosted by the first storage node. In response to detecting a load imbalance based on the first performance metric and the second performance metric, the technique further includes moving the NAS file server from the first storage node to the second storage node and hosting the set of volumes that belong to the NAS file server from the second storage node.

Methods and Systems for Stream-Processing of Biomedical Data

A method for stream-processing biomedical data includes registering, by a file system, with an operating system kernel of the computing device, as a file handler for files requested from a file system mount directory. The file system receives a first request for access to at least a first portion of a file stored on a remotely located storage device and receives a second request for access to at least a second portion of the file. The file system forwards the first request and the second request to a pre-fetching component, which determines whether the first request and the second request are associated with a sequential read operation. The pre-fetching component automatically retrieves a third portion of the requested file, before receiving a third request for the file, based on a determination that the first request and the second request are associated with the sequential read operation.

METHODS FOR HIERARCHICAL PROPAGATION IN TREE STRUCTURES AND DEVICES THEREOF
20230126129 · 2023-04-27 ·

Methods, non-transitory machine readable media, and computing devices that provide more efficient hierarchical propagation in tree structures are disclosed. With this technology, a first delta record for a first interior node is created optionally in an atomic transaction along with updating a first tally record for a leaf node based on a first value. The transaction is in response to an action associated with the leaf node and the first interior node is a parent of the leaf node in a hierarchical tree. A timer associated with the first delta record is then set. A second value is updated in a second tally record for the first interior node based on the first value, when the timer has expired. Accordingly, this technology advantageously maintains recursive properties or values throughout a hierarchical tree continually, with reduced cost, even in a distributed network and in hierarchical trees with large numbers of nodes.

Resource provisioning systems and methods

A method and apparatus managing a set of processors for a set of queries is described. In an exemplary embodiment, a device receives a set of queries for a data warehouse, the set of queries including one or more queries to be processed by the data warehouse. The device further provisions a set of processors from a first plurality of processors, where the set of processors to process the set of queries, and a set of storage resources to store data for the set of queries. In addition, the device monitors a utilization of the set of processors as the set of processors processes the set of queries. The device additionally updates a number of the processors in the set of processors provisioned based on the utilization/Furthermore, the device processes the set of queries using the updated set of processors.

Systems and methods for tuning a storage system

Implementations described and claimed herein provide systems and methods for tuning and sizing one or more storage appliances in a storage system with respect to an application load and for optimizing a storage system based on a configuration of a client network and/or a storage appliance in a storage network. In one implementation, data corresponding to an application load configured to be applied to a storage appliance in the storage system is obtained. The application load is characterized in the context of a configuration of the storage system. One or more recommendations for optimizing performance of the storage system based on the characterized application load are generated.

Database protection using block-level mapping

A system according to certain aspects may include a client computing device including: a database application configured to output a database file in a primary storage device(s), the database application outputting the database file as a series of application-level blocks; and a data agent configured to divide the database file into a plurality of first blocks having a first granularity larger than a second granularity of the application-level blocks such that each of the first blocks spans a plurality of the application-level blocks. The system may include a secondary storage controller computer(s) configured to: in response to instructions to create a secondary copy of the database file: copy the plurality of first blocks to a secondary storage device(s) to create a secondary copy of the database file; and create a table that provides a mapping between the copied plurality of first blocks and corresponding locations on the secondary storage device(s).

Traversal rights

The present technology pertains to a organization directory hosted by a synchronized content management system. The corporate directory can provide access to user accounts for all members of the organization to all content items in the organization directory on the respective file systems of the members' client devices. Members can reach any content item at the same path as other members relative to the organization directory root on their respective client device. In some embodiments novel access permissions are granted to maintain path consistency.
