The present invention registers a virtual printer name in association with print settings by the virtual printer based on a user's operation; receives print data including an optional command for printing and file data to be printed from an external; determines whether or not a command argument of the option command included in the received print data has been registered as the registered virtual printer name; generates a print job by using the print settings associated with the registered virtual printer if it the command argument has been registered as the virtual printer name; generates a print job that analyzes the command argument and prints the file data by using the print settings specified based on the analyzed result if the command argument has not been registered as the virtual printer name.

In addition, the image forming apparatus includes a holding function of, when executing a print job based on print data transmitted from an external terminal, enabling the print job to be executed only when a user confirms the print job. A method of controlling printing by print control script embedded in a web page acquired by a client terminal from a web application server includes, after the acquired web page is displayed, accepting an input operation on the displayed web page and drawing a result of the input operation in a specific drawing area, the accepting and drawing operations being performed by the client terminal. The method further includes generating print data by converting image data written in the specific drawing area to a form enabling processing by a printer as a result of a print operation performed on the displayed web page, and commanding the printer to print the print data.

A tablet terminal includes a detection unit that detects a distance to a printing apparatus, a tablet terminal radio communication unit that transmits a command indicating control of the printing apparatus, and a processing unit that suppresses transmission of a command to be transmitted by the tablet terminal radio communication unit when the distance to the printing apparatus detected by the detection unit is greater than or equal to a predetermined value.

A captured image is recorded in the second storage area. A first playback mode and a second playback mode are provided as a playback mode. In a case where the first playback mode is selected, the image recorded in the first storage area is played, and in a case where the second playback mode is selected, the image recorded in the second storage unit is played. The image being played is printed according to a print instruction.

An image forming apparatus comprises a communicator that receives a print command of image data from a user terminal via a network; an image former that forms an image on the basis of the image data; and one or more controllers that control the communicator and the image former, wherein when a time-out period set in advance has elapsed without receiving a transmission completion notification of a print command from the user terminal after receiving the print command from the user terminal, the one or more controllers determine whether image data related to the print command is complete or not in accordance with a determination procedure set in advance, and when the one or more controllers determine that the image data is complete, the one or more controllers cause the image former to form an image based on the image data, while when the one or more controllers determine that the image data is not complete, the one or more controllers withhold execution of the print command.

An image forming apparatus that suppresses print position displacement. The image forming apparatus includes a plurality of sheet storage sections configured to store sheets. A sheet storage section to be used is selected out of the plurality of sheet storage sections. An image is formed on a sheet supplied from the selected sheet storage section and the image position is adjusted using adjustment values associated with the selected sheet storage section. When an update action performed by sheet replenishment or sheet replacement is detected for a sheet storage section, the sheet storage section for which the update action has been detected is controlled so as not to be selected by the selection unit until a predetermined time period elapses after detection of the update action.

A printing computing device connects to a multi-function printing (MFP) device to enable additional functionality and capabilities not offered by the MFP device. The printing computing device connects to a network to receive print jobs from external devices within the network. The printing computing device processes the print jobs according to rules such that print jobs are processed accordingly. The printing computing device also includes firmware not available on the MFP device such that print jobs not supported by the MFP device still may be processed. The printing computing device also includes an engine that determines whether an incoming print job is a PDL print job or a command to perform a function not available on the MFP device.

A print control apparatus includes a network interface to receive, from an external device, print job data including a plurality of ordered separate document files and two sequential serial page numbers in the plurality of ordered separate document files for specifying sequential target pages to be printed. The print job data has been generated and sent by the external device. One of the two sequential serial page numbers indicates, as an initial page, a page of one of the plurality of ordered document files, and the other of the sequential serial page numbers indicates, as a last page, a page of another one of the plurality of ordered document files. A rasterizer rasterizes at least the sequential target pages specified by the two sequential serial page numbers, and does not rasterize one or more pages of one or more document files that do not include the sequential target pages.
