Method for fast replacement of wireless IoT product and system thereof
A method and system for replacing a first wireless node in an IoT system includes determining, by the first wireless node, that the first wireless node needs imminent replacement. The determination may be made, for example, based on a battery of the first wireless node being below a threshold level. The first wireless node initiates a discovery protocol for a second wireless node installed in proximity to the first wireless node, the second wireless node installed to replace the first wireless node. Upon discovery of the second wireless node, the first wireless node transmits a configuration file to the second wireless node, which the second wireless node copies to a storage of the second wireless node. The second wireless node configures itself to operate as a replacement for the first wireless node in the IoT system, based at least in part on the copied configuration file.
Structures and methods providing tread sensor integration
A tire monitoring system may include first and second sensor elements, a circuit board, and a housing. The circuit board includes control circuitry coupled with at least one of the first and second sensor elements, wherein the control circuitry is configured to generate tire tread information based on an electrical response of at least one of the first and second sensor elements. The housing includes a housing material that surrounds the circuit board in a direction parallel with respect to a surface of the circuit board. Related methods are also discussed.
Cards and devices with magnetic emulators with zoning control and advanced interiors
A payment card (e.g., credit and/or debit card) is provided with a magnetic emulator operable to act as a magnetic stripe read-head detector and a data transmitter. A multiple layer flexible PCB may be fabricated to include multiple magnetic emulators. An emulator may include a coil that includes magnetic, ferromagnetic, or ferromagnetic, material in the coil's interior. Coils may be associated with zones. As a read-head is detected to move from zone-to-zone, coils may be activated to transmit information in those zones.
Smart card with sensors for detecting environmental conditions
In some embodiments, a smart card may include a substrate with a first side and a second side. A first protective layer covers the first side and a second protective layer covers the second side of the substrate. Circuitry held in the substrate includes electronic interconnects for interconnecting circuitry elements. The circuitry elements include a processor, power circuitry for powering the circuitry elements, and an environmental detection sensor for respectively detecting a predetermined environmental parameter. The processor is configured to receive an output from the environmental detection sensor, to determine from the output that the environmental detection sensor detected an environmental alert trigger condition, and to generate an alert that is representative of the environmental alert trigger condition. The protective layers include pores in a region proximate to the environmental detection sensor for exposing the environmental detection sensor to an environment around the smart card.
ARRANGEMENT AND METHOD FOR FITTING ROOMS
An arrangement and method for fitting rooms and/or fitting areas. The arrangement includes detecting arrival, departure and/or presence of a person to/from a fitting room and/or fitting area and for detecting presence and/or number of remotely readable identification tags, electronic article surveillance tags and/or electronic price labels. The method includes detecting entrance or presence of a person to a fitting room and/or fitting area, detecting presence and/or number of remotely readable identification tags, electronic article surveillance tags and/or electronic price labels in the fitting room and/or fitting area after the entrance of a person to the fitting room and/or fitting area detecting departure of a person from a fitting room and/or fitting area and detecting presence and/or number of remotely readable identification tags, electronic article surveillance tags and/or electronic price labels in the fitting room and/or fitting area after departure of the person.
HYBRID DOCUMENT WITH VARIABLE STATE
A hybrid document includes a document having visible markings, one or more light-controlling elements embedded in or on the document, and a controller including a circuit having a non-volatile memory. The controller is embedded in or on the document and electrically connected to the one or more light-controlling elements for controlling the one or more light-controlling elements. A power input connection is electrically connected to any one or all of the controller, the circuit, the memory, or the one or more light-emitting elements. The memory stores a state and the circuit causes the one or more light-controlling elements to indicate the state. A hybrid document validation machine is adapted to accept one or more of the hybrid documents, change the state of the hybrid documents, and optionally display the state on a display.
SLEEP CURRENT FAILURE DETECTION
HVAC components having improved efficiency are described. In one embodiment, excessive sleep current draw in a battery-powered device having a microcontroller is detected by measuring a voltage drop across a MOSFET device coupled in a forward-conducting orientation in series between the battery and the microcontroller, causing a transistor to conduct when the voltage drop exceeds a predetermined threshold to generate a first trigger signal, integrating the first trigger signal to generate a second trigger signal, and generating an interrupt to the microcontroller. In another embodiment, a battery-saving method of operating an HVAC component includes maintaining the HVAC device in the sleep mode, receiving a user input to wake the device, transmitting a data request and returning the HVAC component to the sleep mode, waking up the HVAC device to poll an adjacent network node storing a cached response, displaying the response, and returning the HVAC device to sleep.
Method for estimating a quantity of a blood component in a fluid receiver and corresponding error
A method and system for communicating estimated blood loss parameters of a patient to a user, the method comprising: receiving data representative of an image, of a fluid receiver; automatically detecting a region within the image associated with a volume of fluid received at the fluid receiver, the volume of fluid including a blood component; calculating an estimated amount of the blood component present in the volume of fluid based upon a color parameter represented in the region, and determining a bias error associated with the estimated amount of the blood component; updating an analysis of an aggregate amount of the blood component and an aggregate bias error associated with blood loss of the patient, based upon the estimated amount of the blood component and the bias error; and providing information from the analysis of the aggregate amount of the blood component and the aggregate bias error, to the user.

The electronic tag comprises: a power supply module configured to supply power to the electronic tag; a display module configured to display a display screen required by the electronic tag; an electronic tag circuit configured to control the electronic tag to operate in a state that the electronic tag is powered by the power supply module; and a switch circuit configured to disconnect the power supply module from the electronic tag circuit when the display screen does not need to be updated.
MAGNETIC CARDS AND DEVICES FOR MOTORIZED READERS
One or more detection activities of a card may allow calculation of rolling speed in motorized readers. Accordingly, the detection activity may result in a data transmission speed with greater accuracy after a determination of position, velocity and/or acceleration of the faster-moving device in relation to the card. Such detection activities may increase a probability of a successful communication sequence.
