Method for secure electronic tender
The invention is a method of conducting a secure monetary transaction with a funded secure tender electronic card by: (i) pre-selecting a monetary amount as a card usage parameter for the secure tender electronic card, the monetary amount having a value of from zero cents to ninety nine cents, (ii) storing the card usage parameter in an electronic card server, and (iii) validating, via the electronic card server, a pending monetary transaction using the electronic card only when the transaction cents amount is equal to the stored card usage parameter.
TAGGING OBJECTS IN INDOOR SPACES USING AMBIENT, DISTRIBUTED BACKSCATTER
A product tagging system is provided. The product tagging system includes at least one RF backscatter transmitter configured to emit a Radio Frequency (RF) signal on a frequency. The product tagging system further includes a passive RF backscatter tag associated with a product and configured to reflect and frequency shift the RF signal to a different frequency. The product tagging system also includes at least one RF backscatter receiver configured to read the product on the different frequency by detecting a distributed ambient backscatter signal generated by a reflection and frequency shifting of the RF signal by the passive RF backscatter tag.
METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR PROVIDING AUTHENTICATED PRODUCT INFORMATION TO DISTRIBUTED DEVICES
The present teaching relates to method and system for providing information about a product. The method includes receiving, by a device of a user via a wireless connection when the device is near the product, a unique identifier from a near field communication (NFC) chip embedded in a tag attached to the product. The tag is constructed to embed an antenna, which breaks down upon a force being applied to tear the tag, and disables communication between the NFC chip and the device. The method forwards the unique identifier to a server that stores information about the product, and receives from the server the information about the product. The received information about the product is presented on the device to the user.
Payment cards and devices with displays, chips, RFIDs, magnetic emulators, magnetic encoders, and other components
A payment card (e.g., credit and/or debit card) or other card or device (e.g., mobile telephone) is provided with a magnetic emulator operable to communicate data to a magnetic stripe read-head. User interfaces are provided in a number of different configurations in order to achieve a number of different functionalities.
Method for estimating a quantity of a blood component in a fluid receiver and corresponding error
A method and system for communicating estimated blood loss parameters of a patient to a user, the method comprising: receiving data representative of an image, of a fluid receiver; automatically detecting a region within the image associated with a volume of fluid received at the fluid receiver, the volume of fluid including a blood component; calculating an estimated amount of the blood component present in the volume of fluid based upon a color parameter represented in the region, and determining a bias error associated with the estimated amount of the blood component; updating an analysis of an aggregate amount of the blood component and an aggregate bias error associated with blood loss of the patient, based upon the estimated amount of the blood component and the bias error; and providing information from the analysis of the aggregate amount of the blood component and the aggregate bias error, to the user.
Detection device and method of using thereof
A detection device includes a first antenna configured to receive a first radio wave transmitted from an external device, a second antenna configured to receive the first radio wave transmitted from the external device, and transmit a second radio wave to the external device; and a chip configured to obtain a comparison result between a first electromotive force generated by the first radio wave received by the first antenna and a second electromotive force generated by the first radio wave received by the second antenna, and to send the comparison result to the external device through the second radio waive. When the first antenna is disposed closer than the second antenna to a place where the existence of moisture is to be detected, a change of the first electromotive force is greater than a change of the second electromotive force in response to the existence of moisture.
GARMENT LIFE CYCLE TRACKING SYSTEM AND METHOD
A garment life cycle tracking system utilizes a Radio Frequency Identification, RFID, device to retrieve life cycle data about the garment. The RFID device may be scanned by an interactive device, such as a mobile phone, and the RFID identifier may be used to retrieve data from a database, such as through a website interface. A mobile phone or other computing device may have an application software that interfaces with the database or website. Life cycle data may include date of manufacture, former locations of purchase, date of purchase, cost of garment, date of return of garment, type of garment and the like. A customer may track a garment after returning a garment to see when and where the garment is subsequently purchased. This system may promote recycling of garments and reduce the environmental impact of garment production.

Systems and Methods to Selectively Connect Antennas to Receive and Backscatter Radio Frequency Signals
Systems and methods to selectively attach and control antennas via diodes. In one embodiment, a system includes: a reader having a plurality of reader antennas of different polarizations to transmit radio frequency signals; and at least one radio frequency device. The radio frequency device includes: a plurality of tag antennas of different polarizations; a plurality of diodes coupled to the plurality of tag antennas respectively; a receiver coupled to the plurality of diodes to receive the radio frequency signals from the tag antennas when the diodes are forward biased; and a set of one or more current controllers coupled to the plurality of diodes. In a receiving mode the controllers selectively forward bias the diodes to receive the signals from the reader. In a transmitting mode the controllers selectively change the state of the tag antennas to transmit data via backscattering the radio frequency signals.
SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR SECURING A RESOURCE
A system and method for securing a resource includes a combination code generator configured to receive a first input sequence and a first panel context and generate a first computed combination code. A second computed combination code is generated from a received second input sequence and a second panel context. A set panels module receives the first computed combination code and the first panel context and re-orders the panels of the first panel context to set the second panel context. a hash key generator converts the received second panel context and the second combination code into a first hash key.
