An access card may store an encrypted operation key and a key used to read the encrypted operation key from the access card. The encrypted operation key and the key may be based on a unique identifier (UID) of the access card. The encrypted operation key may be obtained by encrypting an operation key using a cryptographic key that is also based on the UID of the access card. An access card reader may read the UID from the access card and use it to generate the key used to read the encrypted operation key from the access card. The access card read may also use the UID read from the access card to generate a cryptographic key used to decrypt the encrypted operation key. The access card reader may validate the decrypted operation key and determine whether to grant or deny access, for example, via an access control device.

OVERLAY SKIMMER PROTECTOR (EOSP)

A credit card reader comprises a card reader, a keypad, a display, and a protector coupled to a front surface of the credit card reader. The credit card reader can also include a sensor coupled to the protector. The sensor is configured to detect a relative positioning between the protector and the credit card reader.

Organic light emitting diode (“OLED”) single-use payment instrument

Aspects of the invention relate to components for constructing a payment instrument that includes enhanced electronic features. Apparatus may include an all-inclusive smart card that securely stores sensitive data. Such sensitive data may include credit card, driver's license or passport information. The smart card may generate disposable card numbers for online or offline onetime transactions.

ELECTRONIC MARKING
20210273793 · 2021-09-02 ·

An electronic marking for verifying the authenticity of an object, comprising: an antenna, an analogue transceiver circuit, a microcontroller, and at least one secure cryptoprocessor, in which: the antenna is connected to the analogue transceiver circuit; the microcontroller is connected both to the analogue transceiver circuit and the at least one secure cryptoprocessor; the at least one secure cryptoprocessor is designed to securely generate a digital signature; the electronic marking has one or more electrical sensor conductors; the at least one secure cryptoprocessor is connected to at least one of the sensor conductors and designed to determine at least one electrical property of the connected at least one sensor conductor; and the one or more electrical sensor conductor(s) are distinct from the antenna and are positioned to overlap, at least partly, with said antenna.

Fault injection attack detection in integrated circuits

A system with fault injection attack detection can include a circuit block; at least one independent power network; a detector coupled to the at least one independent power network to detect a change in a power characteristic of the independent power network; and sensors coupled to the at least one independent power network and located in an active layer of a chip with the circuit block. The sensors are responsive to at least one type of fault injection attack. In some cases, the sensors can be inverters.

Contactless card emulation system and method
11102007 · 2021-08-24 · ·

A system and method are described that enables mobile devices (e.g. including but not limited to a mobile phone or the like), to intercept and respond to contactless card authentication requests, allowing mobile devices to be used in place of contactless cards. Enabling mobile phone devices to emulate contactless cards decreases issues related to lost or damaged cards, enabling a single device to be used to provide tokens related to multiple different contactless cards, and leverages functionality of the mobile device to provide dual-factor authentication.

Chip-based card security
11080580 · 2021-08-03 · ·

A chip-based card is provided with on-card security. The card in a non-activated state is fully resistant to any power received from a card reader, such that a chip in the card is unable to be powered on by the card reader when the card is inserted to the card reader for a transaction. A plurality of pressure contact points are provided on the card. When a correct number of correct pressure points are pinched by a card holder before insertion of the card into the card reader, a custom amount of resistance is removed such that a custom amount of voltage is capable of being received from the card reader for powering up the chip. In an embodiment, the customized voltage drives firmware execution on a processor of the chip to produce customized output for the transaction.

Physical card enabling utilization based on location
11100493 · 2021-08-24 · ·

There are provided systems and methods for a physical card having one or more location detection modules for location-specific card reading. A physical payment card may include one or more components to limit card reading of card data stored to the card using a location detection chip. The location detection chip may receive power from a source when inserted to a card reader, and may then determine a location of the card, such as a coordinate location of the card or nearby detected device. The location detection chip may determine if this location or device matches authorized locations stored in a memory of the card. If it does, power may be provided to a card chip of the card. The card chip of the card reads card data from a memory of the card and may then output the card data to the card reader.
