READING APPARATUS
According to one embodiment, a reading apparatus includes a shielding body, an antenna, and a reader and writer. The shielding body is formed in a box shape with an upper opening, to place an accommodating body and to shield radio waves. The antenna is provided in the shielding body to receive information from an RFID tag attached to a product that is passing through the opening. The reader and writer is connected to the antenna to read information of the product from the information received by the antenna.
Protection of personal data contained on an RFID-enabled device
A system for protecting personal data contained on an RFID-enabled device, suitable for use with an RFID system including an RFID reader configured to extract information from an RFID chip associated with the RFID-enabled device, includes a personal data protection system including a personal data protection device configured to prevent reading of the RFID chip associated with an RFID-enabled personal item.
RFID integrated circuit identifier self-check
A Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) tag IC stores an identifier and a check code. The IC determines whether the stored identifier is corrupted by comparing it to the check code. If the stored identifier does not correspond to the check code then the IC may terminate operation or indicate an error. The IC may also reconstruct the correct identifier from the check code.
Systems and methods for cryptographic authentication of contactless cards
Example embodiments of systems and methods for data transmission system between transmitting and receiving devices are provided. In an embodiment, each of the transmitting and receiving devices can contain a master key. The transmitting device can generate a diversified key using the master key, protect a counter value and encrypt data prior to transmitting to the receiving device, which can generate the diversified key based on the master key and can decrypt the data and validate the protected counter value using the diversified key.
Advance alert system against copy of contact-less card information
A structure for a contact-less card, the contact-less card may include a buzzer coupled to a fixed power source. The contact-less card may include a vibration motor coupled to the fixed power source. The contact-less card may include a controller coupled to the buzzer and the vibration motor. The controller includes a first integrated circuit. The first integrated circuit transmits a trigger signal to the buzzer and the vibration motor based on an enablement signal. The contact-less card may include a contact-less communication controller electrically coupled to the controller. The contact-less communication controller comprises a second integrated circuit containing card information. The second integrated circuit transmits the card information based on an induced voltage. The second integrated circuit transmits the enablement signal to the controller based on an induced voltage. The contact-less card may include an antenna electrically coupled to the contact-less communication controller. The antenna transmits card information.
Secure anti-skimmer technology for use with magnetic cards
Detecting and reporting skimming of a magnetic stripe of a magnetic instrument having a magnetic stripe. The magnetic head detector detects a reading of the magnetic stripe from the magnetic instrument and, if the reading is detected, transmits a reporting signal to a microchip indicating the magnetic stripe was read. The microchip receives the reporting signal from the magnetic head detector and transmits a buzzer signal to a microbuzzer. The microbuzzer generates an audible notification when the buzzer signal is received from the microchip. A microbattery powers the magnetic head detector, the microchip, and the microbuzzer.
Digital identities for physical items
RFID technology may be used to provide digital identities for physical items. An RFID IC attached to or integrated into a physical item contains an identifier for the physical item. Digital identity information associated with the item, such as ownership information, history, properties, and the like, may be located on one or more networks. An entity, after authenticating itself and/or the item, may use the identifier to locate, retrieve, and/or update the item's digital identity information on the network.
CHIP-BASED CARD SECURITY
A chip-based card is provided with on-card security. The card in a non-activated state is fully resistant to any power received from a card reader, such that a chip in the card is unable to be powered on by the card reader when the card is inserted to the card reader for a transaction. A plurality of pressure contact points are provided on the card. When a correct number of correct pressure points are pinched by a card holder before insertion of the card into the card reader, a custom amount of resistance is removed such that a custom amount of voltage is capable of being received from the card reader for powering up the chip. In an embodiment, the customized voltage drives firmware execution on a processor of the chip to produce customized output for the transaction.
RF tag with memory management
In embodiments of the present disclosure improved capabilities are described for a method and system for a radio frequency (RF) tag comprising a controller, a memory, and a memory manager, wherein the controller utilizes the memory manager to manage different memory types.
Payment Card Overlay Skimmer Detection
Devices and methods for detecting credit card skimmers are provided herein. A device can include a printed circuit board having a pattern of electrical traces on its surface, and a computer readable medium comprising instructions that cause a processor to direct an electrical voltage to a trace and detect an electrical current between two points of the trace. A gap can be disposed between the two points across which a voltage is applied in order to detect a magnetic reader. A count of the detected magnetic readers within a credit card reading device may be indicative of the presence of a credit card skimmer.
