The present disclosure relates to security tags for an electronic article surveillance system deployed in a retail environment. The security tag is a single piece security tag that comprises a tack housing and a tag housing connected by a beam. The beam is enabled to house one or more antenna elements that is electrically connected with one or more electronic components housed within the tag housing. Alternatively, one or more antenna elements can be housed within the tack housing, wherein engagement of the tack housing with the tag housing enables the one or more antenna elements to receive electrical signals from the one or more electronic components via a tack.

In one implementation, the tag may include at least one transmitter and an energy storage component electrically connected to the at least one transmitter. The energy storage component may be configured to collect and store ambient energy and to power transmission of the at least one transmitter. The tag may also include at least one circuit. The at least one circuit may be configured to cause the at least one transmitter to transmit a sequence of identification signals in non-uniform intervals such that times between identification signal transmissions of three consecutive transmissions vary.

In one implementation, the system may include at least one processor that may be configured to store IDs for a plurality of tags including at least a first owner ID and a second owner ID for a particular tag; associate first information of the particular tag with the first owner ID at a time when the first owner of the particular tag is recorded as owning the tag; record a transaction transferring ownership of the particular tag from the first owner to a second owner; and after the transfer of ownership, associate second information of the particular tag with the second owner ID, and prevent the second owner from accessing the first information.

Embodiments of the present disclosure generally relate to a wireless identification tag configured to collect and store ambient energy for use in delayed transmission, and system and methods for use thereof. In one implementation, the tag may include a receiver for receiving ambient energy; a first capacitor for storing the ambient energy; and a second capacitor for collecting and storing the ambient energy. The second capacitor may have lower capacitance than the first capacitor. The tag may also include an inductor interconnecting the first capacitor and the second capacitor. The tag may also include circuitry configured such that ambient energy received by the receiver is initially stored in the second capacitor and subsequently transferred to and stored in the first capacitor. The tag may also include a transmitter electrically connected to first capacitor, to enable the energy stored in the first capacitor to power the transmitter.

The first coil has an integrated circuit electrically connected thereto. The first substrate is part of, or is attached or secured to a part of the article, container or packaging. The second substrate is another part of, or is attached or secured to another part of the article, container or packaging. One of the article, container or packaging parts is (re)movable with respect to the other part. The first and second coils have one coupling when the article, container or packaging is closed or sealed, and a different coupling when the article, container or packaging is open or unsealed.

A dual hard tag assembly comprises radio frequency identification and electronic article surveillance. The dual hard tag is provides a single component able to both track retail merchandise generally and prevent theft by triggering an alarm. The RFID and EAS systems are not coplanar. The dual hard tag system is small and light weight, and may be reprogrammed and reused for the tracking and anti-theft of multiple items.

Anti-theft system for stores

An anti-theft system that can be applied in a commercial environment such as a watch store. The products on display in-store are secured by an electronic tag (4) attached to the product. The tag is provided with a chip (16) which emits a first signal which can only be received within a defined perimeter around the chip. An electronic transmitting device (5) is located within this perimeter, which sends the data transmitted within the first signal in the form of a second signal which further contains a value relative to the distance between the tag and the transmitting device. The second signal is managed by one or more computers, preferably of the portable type (6), which are equipped with a digital application configured to analyse the second signal to check for the presence of the tags (4) within a defined security zone (10) around the transmitting device (5).

The tag may also include a transmitter electrically connected to the energy storage component and configured to transmit the identification signal. The tag may also include a circuit connected to the transmitter and configured to implement an identification transmission rule, to cause the transmitter to delay sending the identification signal even when sufficient energy for transmission of the identification signal is aggregated and stored in the energy storage component.
