Decreasing false alarms in RFID exit portals

Transmitting a radio frequency identification (RFID) interrogation signal into an RFID interrogation zone of an Electronic Article Surveillance (EAS) system. Detecting at least one response signal from a first RFID tag of the EAS system responding to the interrogation signal. Capturing, at one or more times in a window of time around the detection, sensor data within a sensor field, the sensor field and the RFID interrogation zone overlapping to form a zone of interest. Characterizing movement of a non-tag object during the window of time based on the captured sensor data. Determining whether the first RFID tag is associated with the characterized non-tag object based on a comparison of the at least one response signal and the characterized movement of the non-tag object.

Consistent with disclosed embodiments, systems, methods, and computer readable media for electronic security systems for retail establishments may be provided. Embodiments may include an electronic article surveillance (EAS) gate and at least one receiver configured to receive transmissions from wireless tags associated with products offered by a retail establishment. Embodiments may also include at least one processor configured to receive, from a device operated by a prospective purchaser, a tag ID associated with a specific product for prospective purchase; perform a lookup of the tag ID in a data structure to identify the specific product; initiate an electronic purchase transaction to debit an account associated with the prospective purchaser for purchase of the specific product; and disable an ability to initiate an alarm when the at least one receiver receives a transmission from a tag associated with the specific product in proximity to the EAS gate.

System for monitoring and controlling shopping cart usage

A system for monitoring and controlling shopping cart usage comprises a wheel assembly that attaches to a shopping cart. The wheel assembly includes a wheel, a brake that can be activated to inhibit rotation of the wheel, a controller that controls the brake, a VLF receiver, and an RF transceiver. The RF transceiver may, for example, operate in a 2.4 GHz frequency band. In some implementations, the RF transceiver may be used to detect entry of the shopping cart into a checkout area of the store, and the VLF receiver may be used to detect that the shopping cart is exiting the store. The controller may activate the brake if the shopping cart attempts to exit the store without first passing through a checkout area.

Systems and Methods for Theft Prevention and Detection

A system and method for premises theft prevention and detection. A system comprises a media capture device, a target area and target object at a workstation, and operably configured code in non-transitory computer readably storage media. A system recognizes a theft or misappropriation and can notify a business owner or police. The system is powered by machine-learning algorithms that progressively improve accuracy and precision in theft detection.

Detacher for self-detaching tag

An apparatus and method for unlocking a security tag that is connected to an article. The apparatus includes an unlocking device configured to provide an unlock signal or force to a security tag allowing for the security tag to be removed from the article. The apparatus further includes an unlocking surface disposed between the unlocking device and the security tag and an alignment feature configured to indicate a detachment zone that corresponds with a source of the unlock signal or force, wherein placing the tag in the detachment allows for the unlocking device to provide an unlock signal or force to the security device to allow the security tag to be removed from the article.

An inventory system, apparatus and method. The method to be used in a cooler that includes a power module provides power to the inventory system from an electric source, battery, WIFI charge, wireless charge and/or combination thereof, a computer processor coupled to the power module, a memory module coupled to the computer processor, an image capturing module coupled to the processor, a movement module coupled to the processor; wherein the movement module triggers the image capturing device to capture images of products in a cooler due to a movement.

SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR RADIO FREQUENCY IDENTIFICATION ENABLED DEACTIVIATION OF ACOUSTO-MAGNETIC FERRITE BASED MARKER
20230298447 · 2023-09-21 ·

Systems and methods for operating a marker that involve receiving, by a Radio Frequency Identification (“RFID”) element of the marker, an RFID deactivation signal; and responsive to the RFID deactivation signal, supplying power to a detuner element of the marker so that the detuner element switches from a first state to a second state. The marker's resonant frequency is changed to a first value that falls outside of an Electronic Article Surveillance (“EAS”) systems operating frequency range when the detuner element switches from the first state to the second state.

Customized retail environments

This disclosure describes, in part, systems for enabling physical retail stores and other facilities to implement automated-checkout techniques for the purchase of items that are priced per unit weight. For example, the described systems may enable a facility to implement technology where users are able to remove items from inventory locations, place the items on weight sensors, and then be charged for the prices of the items without performing manual checkout of the items. The price of an item is determined based at least in part on the identifier of the item and the price per unit weight of the item. The systems described herein thus enable customized retail facilities, as opposed to a retail facility that allows automated-checkout only for prepackaged-type or otherwise non-customizable merchandise.

THEFT PREDICTION AND TRACKING SYSTEM
20220392335 · 2022-12-08 ·

Systems and methods for detecting potential theft and identifying individuals having a history of committing theft use an electromagnetic emission associated with a personal electronic device associated with an individual is received from at least one of a sensor that is coupled to at least one of a traffic camera or an aerial drone camera. One or more signal properties of the electromagnetic emission are analyzed to determine an emission signature. Video data and video analytics are correlated with the emission signature to identify the individual having possession of the item. The emission signature and video data are stored for later use during a checkout procedure. If an emission signature detected at a checkout station matches that of the individual having possession of the item, and the item is not processed through the checkout station, an alert is issued and the individual is flagged as a potential shoplifter.

Systems and methods to validate purchase of a product in a physical store

Embodiments of the present disclosure relates to systems and methods for validating purchase of a product in a physical store. For the validation, a confirmation data for a payment for the product and a product Identification Detail (ID) associated with the product is received upon purchase of the product by a user in a physical store. Upon receiving the confirmation data and the product ID, an inventory database of the physical store is updated with the confirmation data and the product ID for the purchased product. The purchase is validated using the product ID and the updated inventory database when the user is exiting the physical store.
