VEHICLE GUIDANCE, POWER, COMMUNICATION SYSTEM AND METHOD
A vehicle communication, power, and guidance system for use in guiding and communicating with a land vehicle along a roadway, the system comprising: one or more reference devices positioned along the roadway, each of the reference devices further comprising: a memory device for storing fixed values for one or more vehicle and traffic related parameters; and one or more transmission modules for transmitting said fixed values for one or more vehicle and traffic related parameters; a vehicle mounted device comprising: a receiving module for receiving transmitted signals from the transmission module of said reference devices; and a processing module for processing the received signals and a transmitter module to transmitting signals to the reference device to communicate with one or more controllers of the vehicle to guide and control movement of the vehicle along the roadway.
ROAD SIDE UNIT MESSAGE SCHEDULING AND CONGESTION CONTROL
Methods, computing platforms, storage media, and systems for providing congestion control in Road Side Unit message (“RSU message”) scheduling. One aspect of the present disclosure relates to a method for providing congestion control in RSU message scheduling. Various aspects include measuring a channel busy ratio by a PC5 access layer of a Road Side Unit, comparing the measured channel busy ratio to one or more thresholds, and generating and transmitting RSU messages at a rate determined based upon whether the measured channel busy ratio equals or exceeds the one or more thresholds.
Detecting street parked vehicles
Aspects of the disclosure relate to an autonomous vehicle that may detected other nearby vehicles and identify them as parked or unparked. This identification may be based on visual indicia displayed by the detected vehicles as well as traffic control factors relating to the detected vehicles. Detected vehicles that are in a known parking spot may automatically be identified as parked. In addition, detected vehicles that satisfy conditions that are indications of being parked may also be identified as parked. The autonomous vehicle may then base its control strategy on whether or not a vehicle has been identified as parked or not.
Method and apparatus for perception-sharing between vehicles
A method for perception-sharing between similarly-situated vehicles that are traveling on a portion of a roadway that is equipped with an intelligent vehicle highway system is described, and includes executing, in a multi-access edge computing cluster in communication with a roadside unit disposed to monitor a roadway, an application-layer routine. The application-layer routine includes collecting real-time data associated with a plurality of objects from each of the similarly-situated vehicles, predicting motion of each of the plurality of objects based upon the real-time data, object-matching the motion of each of the plurality of objects, and executing fusion of the plurality of objects based upon the object-matching of the motion of each of the plurality of objects. Locations of the similarly-situated vehicles traveling on the roadway are identified based upon the fusion of the plurality of objects. The locations are communicated to one of the similarly-situated vehicles.
Communication methods and devices in intelligent transport systems
According to some embodiments, there is provided a Collective Perception Message, CPM, characterizing a plurality of Vulnerable Road Users based on a plurality of received VAMs, thereby allowing an ITS station to efficiently aggregate VAM messages from VRUs and retransmit information about the VRUs to other ITS stations. Consequently, the security is improved as some ITS stations may not be able to detect or identify VRU stations by themselves but thanks to the CPM, these stations can still be informed of the VRUs. According to other aspects, congestion is avoided while maintaining safety vis-à-vis VRUs thanks to the use of a different transmission scheme when the VRU is already characterized in a CPM sent to the ITS stations. Also, a receiving station can evaluate whether the content of a CPM can be trusted or not. Safety is thus improved. This is achieved thanks to the CPM that references a certificate.
MULTI-OPERATIONAL ORIENTATION SYSTEMS FOR AUTONOMOUS VEHICLES AND SMART INFRASTRUCTURE
Presently disclosed is a system, apparatus, and method for navigating and orienting roadway vehicles by use of a network of embedded navigation beacons within a roadway. A plurality of primary navigation beacons are embedded into a roadway surface with sensors, and communicate with a car and a smaller subset of secondary beacons with connection to the internet. Further disclosed is a landing pad for a drone delivery system, the landing pad acting as a navigational beacon and safe landing location indicator for the aerial drone.
VEHICULAR COMMUNICATION DEVICE
A vehicular communication device is provided. The vehicular communication device includes a reception section that receives, from a periphery vehicle equipped with a narrow area communicator for performing vehicle interior communication, a communication performance index representing performance of the narrow area communicator, and a controller. The controller includes: a reference value setup section that successively sets a reference value of the communication performance index based on the communication performance indexes received from multiple the periphery vehicles; an acquisition section that acquires the communication performance index for a targeted narrow area communicator; and an anomaly determination section that determines anomaly of the targeted narrow area communicator, based on comparison between the reference value set by the reference value setup section and the communication performance index acquired by the acquisition section for the targeted narrow area communicator.
Autonomous communication feature use and insurance pricing
Methods and systems for determining risk associated with operation of autonomous vehicles using autonomous communication are provided. According to certain aspects, autonomous operation features associated with a vehicle may be determined, including features associated with autonomous communication between vehicles or with infrastructure. This information may be used to determine risk levels for a plurality of features, which may be based upon test data regarding the features or actual loss data. Expected use levels and autonomous communication levels may further be determined and used with the risk levels to determine a total risk level associated with operation of the vehicle. The autonomous communication levels may indicate the types of communications, the levels of communication with other vehicles or infrastructure, or the frequency of autonomous communication. The total risk level may be used to determine or adjust aspects of an insurance policy associated with the vehicle.
METHOD OF AUTOMATICALLY CONTROLLING AN AUTONOMOUS VEHICLE BASED ON ELECTRONIC MESSAGES FROM ROADSIDE INFRASTRUCTURE OR OTHER VEHICLES
A method of operating a vehicle, such as an autonomous vehicle, includes the steps of receiving a message from roadside infrastructure via an electronic receiver and providing, by a computer system in communication with said electronic receiver, instructions based on the message to automatically implement countermeasure behavior by a vehicle system. Additionally or alternatively, the method may include the steps of receiving a message from another vehicle via an electronic receiver and providing, by a computer system in communication with said electronic receiver, instructions based on the message to automatically implement countermeasure behavior by a vehicle system.
Method, system and related device of implementing vehicle automatic loading and unloading
The invention discloses a method, system and related device of implementing vehicle automatic loading and unloading, so as to achieve the automatic loading and unloading of the unmanned vehicle. The method includes: controlling, by a vehicle controller, a vehicle to drive automatically and stop at a loading and unloading position; obtaining, by a loading and unloading control apparatus corresponding to the loading and unloading position, vehicle identification information of the vehicle; verifying the vehicle identification information and controlling a loading and unloading machine to load and unload when the verification succeeds; sending a loading and unloading completion indication to the vehicle controller after the loading and unloading is completed; and controlling, by the vehicle controller, the vehicle to leave the loading and unloading position when receiving the loading and unloading completion indication.
