A vehicle position estimation device according to an example of an embodiment includes a parking lot data acquisition unit that acquires parking lot data capable of identifying an absolute orientation and an absolute position of a road surface marking provided on a road surface of a parking lot, an image data acquisition unit that acquires image data obtained by an on-board camera that captures a situation around a vehicle, and a position estimation unit that calculates a relative orientation and a relative position of the road surface marking with respect to the vehicle on the image data by detecting road surface marking data related to the road surface marking from the image data, and that estimates an actual orientation and an actual position of the vehicle on the basis of the calculated relative orientation, the calculated relative position, and the parking lot data.
Method and system for predicting traffic conditions
A method and a system for predicting traffic conditions of a geographical area are provided. Position information, received from devices of corresponding vehicles that are traversing between road segments of a road network including at least first and second road segments, is located on a directed graph of the road network. Further, first and second times are determined based on the located position information on the directed graph. A traffic time of the first road segment is determined based on an average of time differences of the first and second times of each of the one or more first vehicles after filtering out a time period between the first and second times. The traffic conditions of the road network are predicted based on the determined traffic time of each of the road segments.
Geospatial navigation methods and systems for automatically suspending navigational guidance provided to a user of a mobile navigation device
An exemplary geospatial navigation system provides, to a user of a mobile navigation device, navigational guidance along a route from a starting location to a destination location. The geospatial navigation system also identifies a first transportation mode being employed by the user to traverse the route. While the navigational guidance is being provided, the geospatial navigation system receives sensor data generated by a sensor within the mobile navigation device, and determines, based on the sensor data, that the user switches from the first transportation mode to a second transportation mode. In response to the determining that the user switches from the first to the second transportation mode, the geospatial navigation system suspends and/or engages one or more features of the navigational guidance being provided to the user. Corresponding methods and systems are also disclosed.

A system and a method for supporting automated valet parking, and an infrastructure and a vehicle therefor are provided. The method for operating a vehicle which supports automated valet parking includes initializing automated valet parking and receiving, from an infrastructure, a target position which is related to the vehicle and a guide route which guides movement to the target position. Additionally, the method includes performing automated driving by the vehicle along the guide route, and measuring a position of the vehicle based on behavior information of the vehicle and environmental information, while the vehicle performs the automated driving. The environmental information includes at least one among parking lot slot information, road signs, walls, pillars, and floor markings.

Provided herein is a method of generating and communicating map version agnostic road identifiers. Methods may include: providing an indication of a route request between an origin and a destination; receiving a list of road link identifiers in response to the route request; in response to the first road link identifier not corresponding to a road link identifier of a network of road link identifiers: applying an XOR function to the first road link identifier and a subsequent road link identifier in the list of road link identifiers; in response to a result of the XOR function applied to the first road link identifier and the subsequent identifier corresponding with a road link identifier of the network of road link identifiers, adding the road link identifier of the network of road link identifiers to the route.
VEHICLE CONTROLLER AND VEHICLE CONTROL SYSTEM
A vehicle controller includes a processor that switches, when detecting a physical abnormality of an occupant of an own vehicle based on physical information of the occupant, the own vehicle to an emergency mode in which the own vehicle automatically travels to a destination. The processor receives, when the own vehicle is switched to the emergency mode, other vehicle information from another vehicle switched to the emergency mode. The other vehicle information includes information on a physical abnormality of an occupant of the other vehicle. Based on the other vehicle information and own vehicle information including information on the physical abnormality of the occupant of the own vehicle, the processor sets the order of priority to determine which of the own vehicle or the other vehicle is allowed to travel preferentially, and sends, based on the order of priority, a medical aid request to an information processor.
