MODULATION SCHEME FOR DRIVING DIGITAL DISPLAY SYSTEMS
A display device and modulation scheme for applying image data to an imager is disclosed. The display may use a modulation scheme wherein spacing of row write actions on the rows creates gray scale modulation, wherein one row spacing between sequential row write actions is at a first distance while another row spacing between sequential row write actions is at a distance greater than said first distance. The modulation scheme may create a series of write pointers that create a corresponding series of write planes. In some embodiments, modulation efficiency is increased allowing the use of lower frequency imaging circuits to achieve the same display image.

Display apparatus and method for controlling display apparatus
A display apparatus includes: a display unit including a modulator that modulates a plurality of color light fluxes and a light source section that includes a plurality of light sources corresponding to at least any of the color light fluxes; a light source driver that supplies the light sources with pulse currents; and a controller that sets the cycle of each of the pulse currents and an ON-period of the pulses in the pulse current in accordance with the luminance of the light source, wherein when the luminance of any of the light sources is so set that the ON-period of the pulse current is shorter than a preset lower limit, the controller sets the length of the ON period of the pulse current to be equal to the lower limit or at a value longer than the lower limit and reduces the current value of the pulse current.
Display apparatus
A display apparatus includes a display panel including pixels arranged along a plurality of horizontal lines; a data driving portion converting image data of the pixels into data voltages; a frame memory receiving and storing the image data of a refresh frame; and a data processing portion receiving and image quality-processing the image data stored in the frame memory in a unit of one horizontal line, and transmitting the image quality-processed image data to the data driving portion and the frame memory; wherein the frame memory updates and stores the image quality-processed horizontal line image data into a corresponding horizontal line therein, and wherein image data of a n.sup.th refresh frame updated in the frame memory are transmitted to the data driving portion in a unit of one horizontal line when an image of a n+1.sup.th refresh frame is identical to an image of the n.sup.th refresh frame.
Method and apparatus of generating drive signal for light emitting element
A method for generating a drive signal for driving a light emitting element of a display. The method includes: dividing the M bits into MN1+1 data ranges, each including N1 consecutive bits of the M bits; determining N2 bits for uniquely identifying the MN1+1 data ranges; generating a coded signal of N1+N2 bits for representing the M bits of the input signal; based on the coded signal, generating the drive signal comprising a sequence of N1 bits, each bit of said sequence of N1 bits controlling a current through the light emitting element or a voltage across the light emitting element, during a time interval, one bit at a time.
Comparator Circuitry for Content-Addressable Electronic Display
Content-addressable memory-in-display (CAMiD) electronic displays and circuitry are provided. An electronic display may include a pixel active array and a number of content-addressable control cells. Each control cell controls a respective display pixel of the pixel active array. Each control cell includes a comparator to generate a control signal to control the respective display pixel of the pixel active array based on a comparison between pixel data for the respective display pixel and one or more counters corresponding to a gray level.
