Display system
A local-dimming display generally includes a light source configured to generate a backlight, a first display aligned with the light source and having multiple first pixels, wherein each first pixel is configured to selectively pass and block the backlight, and a second display aligned with the first display and having multiple second pixels. A particular pixel is controlled to pass the backlight. The particular pixel corresponds with an aligned pixel and multiple parallax pixels of the first pixels controlled at a first transmit level, and multiple neighboring pixels of the first pixels controlled at one or more second transmit levels. The one or more second transmit levels are less than or equal to the first transmit level. The first pixels cooperating at the first transmit level and the second transmit levels selectively presents the backlight to the second display with a declining intensity pattern in the neighboring pixels.

Each light emitting unit includes a driving circuit, a plurality of light emitting elements, and a driving voltage terminal. The plurality of light emitting elements are sequentially connected in series and connected between the driving voltage terminal and the output terminal of the driving circuit. The driving circuit is configured to output a relay signal through the output terminal in a first period according to a first input signal received by the first input terminal and a second input signal received by the second input terminal, and supply a driving signal to the plurality of light emitting elements sequentially connected in series through the output terminal in a second period.
BACKLIGHT BOARD, BACKLIGHT MODULE, AND DISPLAY DEVICE
A backlight board, a backlight module, and a display device are provided. The backlight board includes a substrate, a light-emitting unit, and a packaging block. A control circuit, a first power signal line, and a second power signal line are disposed on the substrate. The light-emitting unit includes a plurality of light-emitting devices. A plurality of first control switches are integrated in the packaging block. The plurality of first control switches are integrated, so that a space occupied by the first control switches in general is reduced, thereby improving the space utilization and level of integration of the backlight board.
METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR BACKLIGHT CONTROL AND DISPLAY DEVICE
Disclosed is a method and an apparatus for backlight control and a display device. The apparatus comprises: a block brightness module for calculating an initial brightness value of each backlight block in a backlight source according to initial image data; a filtering module for performing spatial filtering and temporal filtering on the initial brightness value of each backlight block to obtain an adjusted brightness value of each backlight block; a control module for generating a brightness control signal according to the adjusted brightness value of each backlight block to adjust brightness of the backlight source. An intermediate brightness value of each backlight block is no less than the initial brightness value of that backlight block. Based on backlight adjustment for reducing power consumption, display effect reduction on a portion of image due to uneven brightness of the portion of the image during the spatial filtering is avoided.
Display device and source driver with local dimming
Provided is a display panel, a source driver that generates a gradation voltage signal based on an image data signal, a timing controller that supplies the image data signal to the source driver, and an illumination drive unit that controls an amount of light of a backlight that illuminates each of a plurality of areas formed by dividing a display screen in the display panel. The source driver or the timing controller calculates feature values of the image data signal corresponding to each of the plurality of areas of the display panel and supplies a dimming data signal representing the amount of light of the backlight according to the feature values of each area to the illumination drive unit. The illumination drive unit controls the amount of light of the backlight for each of the plurality of areas based on the dimming data signal.
System and method for a multi-primary wide gamut color system
Systems and methods for a multi-primary color system for display. A multi-primary color system increases the number of primary colors available in a color system and color system equipment. Increasing the number of primary colors reduces metameric errors from viewer to viewer. One embodiment of the multi-primary color system includes Red, Green, Blue, Cyan, Yellow, and Magenta primaries. The systems of the present invention maintain compatibility with existing color systems and equipment and provide systems for backwards compatibility with older color systems.
Low latency variable backlight liquid crystal display system
In various examples, a low-latency variable backlight liquid crystal display (LCD) system is disclosed. The LCD system may reduce latency and video lag by performing an analysis of peak pixel values within subsets of pixels using a rendering device, prior to transmitting the frame to a display device for display. As a result, the display device may receive the peak pixel value data prior to or concurrently with the frame data, and may begin updating the backlight settings of the display without having to wait for a substantial portion of the frame to be received. In this way, the LCD system may avoid the full frame delay of conventional systems, allowing the LCD system to more reliably support high-performance applications such as gaming.

A backlight driving device and an operating method thereof are provided to drive multiple backlight zones of a backlight panel. The backlight driving device includes an interface circuit and a driving circuit. The interface circuit receives main backlight data corresponding to a first backlight zone from a former stage device. The driving circuit drives the first backlight zone according to a main current level in a display refresh period of a backlight frame period, does not drive the first backlight zone in a demotion blur period which is prior to the display refresh period, and drives the first backlight zone according to a compensation current level in a vertical blanking period which succeeds the display refresh period. The driving circuit determines the main current level according to the main backlight data, and the compensation current level is lower than the main current level.
