Apparatus, method and computer program for adjustable noise cancellation
An apparatus receives a background audio signal from an earpiece microphone. The earpiece microphone is configured to convert sound from a surrounding environment into the background audio signal. The apparatus outputs, to at least one speaker, a primary audio signal with an altered version of the background audio signal. The altered version is selectable, responsive to control by a user of a user interface, between an amount of active noise cancelation of the sound and an amount of reproduction of the sound. One example embodiment is a headset with microphones and speakers for the respective inputs and outputs.
Active Noise Reduction Headset Device with Hearing Aid Features
A headset device with active noise reduction includes a housing configured to be mounted near or in a human ear, a speaker unit equipped within the housing and configured to emit a sound signal, one or more microphone units configured to collect ambient sound and a signal processor electrically connected to the one or more microphone units. The signal processor is configured to selectively operate either in a hearing aid mode in which ambient sound coming in from the outside through the one or more microphone units is emitted, or in a noise reduction mode in which ambient sound coming in from the outside is inverted and the inverted ambient sound is emitted through the speaker unit to reduce the ambient sound. A corresponding method of operating the headset device is also provided.
ACOUSTIC PROCESSING DEVICE, ACOUSTIC PROCESSING METHOD, CONTROL METHOD, AND PROGRAM
An acoustic processing device includes a first signal processing unit that generates a positive signal to be supplied to a positive electrode terminal of a first speaker and a positive electrode terminal of a second speaker, by using input audio signals from a first group of microphones, and a second signal processing unit that generates a negative signal to be supplied to a negative electrode terminal of the first speaker and a negative electrode terminal of the second speaker, by using input audio signals from a second group of microphones.
Bandlimiting anti-noise in personal audio devices having adaptive noise cancellation (ANC)
A personal audio device, such as a wireless telephone, includes noise canceling that adaptively generates an anti-noise signal from a reference microphone signal and injects the anti-noise signal into the speaker or other transducer output to cause cancellation of ambient audio sounds. An error microphone is provided proximate the speaker to measure the output of the transducer in order to control the adaptation of the anti-noise signal and to estimate an electro-acoustical path from the noise canceling circuit through the transducer. The anti-noise signal is adaptively generated to minimize the ambient audio sounds at the error microphone. A processing circuit that performs the adaptive noise canceling (ANC) function also filters one or both of the reference and/or error microphone signals, to bias the adaptation of the adaptive filter in one or more frequency regions to alter a degree of the minimization of the ambient audio sounds at the error microphone.
Synchronization of instability mitigation in audio devices
A method and system directed to controlling audio devices with active noise reduction. The system detects an instability condition in a first headphone; generates one or more control signals to adjust one or more ANR parameters of the first headphone using a first controller, wherein the one or more ANR parameters are adjusted to change the first headphone from a first ANR state to a second ANR state to mitigate the instability condition; and synchronizes the one or more ANR parameters of the first headphone with second headphone. In an example, the system returns the first headphone to the first ANR state after detecting that the first headphone was removed from an ear of a user at the first time and detecting that the first headphone was engaged with the ear at the second time.
HELMET EQUIPPED WITH SOUND SIGNAL PROCESSING UNIT AND SOUND SIGNAL PROCESSING APPARATUS
A speaker and a microphone are provided to a helmet main body. A phase of a sound signal passing through a high pass filter is controlled by a first phase control section, and is amplified by a first amplification section. A phase of a sound signal passing through the low pass filter is controlled by a second phase control section, and is amplified by a second amplification section. These sound signals are synthesized by a synthesis section. A drive section drives the speaker according to a synthesized sound signal. A control section switches phase inversion processing/non-inversion processing of the phase control sections and controls an amplification factor of the amplification sections based on sound power of the sound signal.
Background Noise Reduction in an Audio Device
A method and apparatus are for determining one or more background noise characteristics, determining one or more incoming audio characteristics; and generating a combined audio signal comprising an active noise cancellation (ANC) component and a modified incoming audio (MIA) component. The ANC component is determined based on at least one of the one or more incoming audio characteristics and the background noise characteristics. Each of a limit of the ANC component and a limit of the MIA component is dynamically controlled to be less than or equal to a system limit, wherein a limit of the combined signal is approximately at the system limit
HEADSET, AN APPARATUS AND A METHOD WITH AUTOMATIC SELECTIVE VOICE PASS-THROUGH
In one example, a headset comprises a microphone; an earpiece that is configured to output audio based on one or more of the following: a first audio signal from a connected host device and associated with an application type and a second audio signal from the microphone, when present; a noise reduction module that is configured to reduce ambient noise; a speech detection module that is configured to detect whether a headset user is talking; a voice pass-through module that is configured to pass external voices captured with the microphone as the second audio signal to the earpiece, when activated; and a controller that is configured to activate the voice pass-through module in response to the speech detection module detecting the headset user talking, when uplink audio is off.
Systems and methods for use of adaptive secondary path estimate to control equalization in an audio device
In accordance with embodiments of the present disclosure, an adjustable equalization filter may have a response that generates an equalized source audio signal from a source audio signal to account for effects of changes in an electro-acoustical path of the source audio signal to a transducer. An equalizer coefficient control block may adapt the response of the adjustable equalization filter in response to changes in a response of a secondary path estimate filter for modeling the electro-acoustical path of a source audio signal through the transducer, wherein a response of the secondary path estimate filter is adapted in conformity with an error microphone signal indicative of the acoustic output of the transducer.

Each of the one or more performance enhancement systems includes a performance control input. One or more sound enhancement systems are operable to adjust at least one of an external vehicle sound and an interior sound perceived by vehicle occupants.
