Disc library storage system and disc cartridge used thereof

A disc library storage system and a disc cartridge thereof are provided. The disc library storage system includes a disc library, a disc drive tower, a disc transport device and a disc changing device. The disc library accommodates multiple discs. The disc drive tower accommodates multiple disc drives. The disc drives read data of the discs. The disc transport device moves the discs from the disc library to the disc drive tower and to the disc library. The disc changing device places a disc cartridge including an outer casing and a disc tray. The disc tray accommodates at least one replacement disc. The disc changing device has a pull-out state, in which the disc tray is received in the outer casing, and a close state, in which the disc tray is drawn from the outer casing and the disc transport device unloads the replacement disc from the disc tray.

DISK ARRAY USING MULTIPLE ACTUATOR DRIVES WITH LOGICAL UNITS COUPLED TO ACTIVE AND PASSIVE SERVERS

Each disk drive in an array includes a housing that encloses a motor and at least one magnetic disk. The housing also encloses first and second actuators each with respective first and second heads that independently access the magnetic disk. The first actuator is mapped to a first logical unit and the second actuator is mapped to a second logical unit. A host interface of each disk drive facilitates access to the first and second logical units. A system includes a first storage controller attached to all of the first logical units as a first active server and attached to all of the second logical units as a first passive server. A second storage controller operates redundantly with the first storage controller. The second storage controller is attached to all of the second logical units as a second active server and attached to all of the first logical units as a second passive server.

Disk drive server

A server box embodiment is disclosed that generally comprises an array of dummy HDDs that share a common set of universal disk drive components in a master components module, or power module. Each dummy HDDs is constructed without expensive onboard chipsets that control the normal functionality of a standard HDD. By sharing expensive chipsets in a master components module (power module) money can be saved in building and selling the dummy HDD server. Embodiments envision a power module possessing the needed chipset functionality that is missing in a dummy HDD. The power module can be made to move from dummy HDD to dummy HDD supplying the necessary chipset in a shared manner when data is being stored or retrieved for client or end-user.

An isolated vibration assembly for a computing device includes a top assembly having a top plate. The assembly further includes a base assembly having a base plate that is generally parallel to and offset from the top plate. A partition assembly is positioned generally perpendicularly between the top plate and the bottom plate, with two partition plates defining an internal space. A plurality of vibration isolators is attached in an interspersed manner to one or more surfaces of the top plate, the base plate, or the two partition plates. A computing device is removably installed within the internal space, generating vibrations that are reduced when passing through the plurality of vibration isolators.

Hard disk drive tray and hard disk drive tray module

A hard disk drive tray includes a tray body, a handle, and two elastic locking members. The tray body includes a bottom wall and two side walls. A first evading groove is defined in each side wall. The side wall includes a first clamping portion. The handle includes two handle operating portions and a beam portion. The handle operating portion is connected to the side wall. A second clamping portion is formed in the first limiting groove. Each elastic locking member includes a first side portion, a top portion, and a locking portion. A third clamping portion is formed on the first side portion. The locking portion is blocked by the second clamping portion, and the third clamping portion is blocked by the first clamping portion. When the elastic locking member is pushed toward the second clamping portion, the third clamping portion is separated from the first clamping portion.

DATA STORAGE SYSTEM INCLUDING MOVABLE CARRIAGE

An apparatus with a housing which stores a plurality of data storage magazines, where each data storage magazine includes a plurality of data storage devices. The housing includes a movable carriage, the movable carriage configured to selectively couple a set of data storage devices held by a particular data storage magazine to a host device. The housing also includes a motor configured to move the movable carriage within the housing to enable the movable carriage to communicatively couple the set of data storage devices held by the particular data storage magazine to the host device

Storage system with actuated media player

A data storage library includes multiple storage cartridges arranged in a rack; read/write control electronics integrated within a media player assembly; and actuation means for achieving relative movement between the media player assembly and the multiple storage cartridges in the rack to allow the read/write control electronics within the media player assembly to selectively couple with and provide data access to at least a subset of the multiple storage cartridges.

STORAGE SYSTEM WITH ACTUATED MEDIA PLAYER

A data storage library includes a number of storage cartridges arranged in a rack accessed by a actuated media player. The actuated media player is adapted to move the along a plane relative to a fixed subset of the storage cartridges in the rack to and to selectively couple to each storage cartridge of the fixed subset to facilitate selective read/write access.
