Apparatus and method for the optical detection of inner walls
An apparatus for the optical detection of inner walls includes at least one camera, an optical imaging arrangement, and an illumination arrangement. The apparatus is configured to record in a panoramic view by means of the camera a plurality of regions of an inner wall which are axially offset from one another. The apparatus is distinguished by virtue of the illumination arrangement having at least two different functional states, wherein a first brightness distribution emitted by the illumination arrangement is assigned to a first functional state, the brightness distribution differing from a second brightness distribution in at least one second functional state.
METHODS FOR CONTROLLING CHARGE ACCUMULATION WHILE OPERATING A MOBILE PLATFORM IMMERSED IN A HAZARDOUS, NON-CONDUCTIVE SUBSTANCE
A mobile platform uses a charge accumulation control system to control a charge accumulation while the mobile platform is in the tank. Alternatively or additionally, the mobile platform includes a retrieval system having a buoyant body, a primary tether, and a secondary tether. Alternatively or additionally, an electrical cable is used to reduce a voltage difference between the mobile platform and the tank or other structure by electrically connecting to an electrically conductive member on the mobile platform.
INTEGRATED FLEX-SHAFT CAMERA SYSTEM WITH HAND CONTROL
Cable handling devices, methods, and systems for securing and deploying or retracting one or more cables or hoses into or out of a pipe or cavity allowing inspection of the pipe or cavity. In an exemplary embodiment, a hand-held device with a housing for at least partially enclosing one or more cables or hoses, at least one coupling mechanism integrally attached to the housing, and a coupling control for coupling and decoupling the one or more cables or hoses is provided. The cable handling device and the one or more cables or hoses can be coupled and moved together, or decoupled enabling the cable handling device and the one or more cables or hoses to move independently of each other. One or more of the cables may be connected to a camera allowing the one or more cables or hoses to be deployed or retracted into or out of a pipe or cavity thereby facilitating inspection of the pipe or cavity.
APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR CHECKING TYRES
Apparatus (1) for checking tyres, comprising: a support frame (2); a flange (3); and an acquisition system (4) of three-dimensional images of a surface of a tyre, the acquisition system being mounted on the support frame and comprising: a matrix camera (5), a linear laser source (7), and a reflecting surface (12) which intersects the propagation axis (9) of the linear laser beam and the optical axis (6) of the matrix camera (5), wherein a first angle (50) formed between a first section (14) and a second section (31) of the optical axis (6) mutually symmetrical with respect to a normal to the reflecting surface in the respective point of incidence to the reflecting surface, is obtuse, and wherein a second angle (51) formed between a first section (16) and a second section (32) of the propagation axis (9) mutually symmetrical with respect to a normal to the reflecting surface in the respective point of incidence to the reflecting surface, is obtuse.
METHODS FOR PERFORMING TASKS IN A TANK CONTAINING HAZARDOUS SUBSTANCES
A method of performing a selected task in a tank containing an energetic substance uses an inherently safe mobile platform that includes a marker detector, a control unit, a power supply, a propulsion system, and an inherently safe enclosure. The inherently safe enclosure prevents a spark occurring inside the inherently safe enclosure from passing to an exterior of the inherently safe enclosure. All spark-generating components of the mobile platform are positioned inside the inherently safe enclosure. The method includes lowering the mobile platform into the tank, at least partially submerging the mobile platform in the energetic substance, and detecting a marker using the marker detector. No active physical carrier connects the mobile platform to an object exterior of the tank while the mobile platform is in the tank.
TECHNIQUES FOR CONTROL OF NON-DESTRUCTIVE TESTING DEVICES VIA A PROBE DRIVER
A probe driver may include a coupling that interfaces with a conduit section at a first position of the conduit section. A probe driver may also have one or more positioning elements to reposition the conduit section to interface with the coupling at a second position of conduit section in response to one or more commands based on a recorded inspection, where through completing the one or more commands is configured to initiate a second inspection identical to the recorded inspection.
MANAGING INFRASTRUCTURE DATA
Embodiments may be used to evaluate completed inspection jobs using updated pipe segment data obtained by inspecting a rehabilitated pipe after completion of a project. One embodiment provides a method of generating an infrastructure project summary, including: collecting, using one or more sensors of an inspection robot, pipe segment data relating to the one or more pipe segments; the second pipe segment data comprising one or more of laser condition assessment data and sonar condition assessment data; generating infrastructure summary data for at least a part of the network using the pipe segment data, comparing, using a processor, first and second infrastructure summary data; generating, using the processor, a parameter of the infrastructure project summary based on the comparing; and including the parameter of the infrastructure project summary in a project summary report. Other embodiments are disclosed and claimed.
SONO TOOL AND RELATED SYSTEMS AND METHODS
This application relates to tools, systems, and methods for stimulating hydrocarbon bearing formations using energy from sonoluminescence.
SYSTEM AND METHOD TO IMPROVE SURGICAL CUTTING IN THE PRESENCE OF SURGICAL DEBRIS
A system for improved surgical cutting in the presence of surgical debris, the system comprising: a surgical cutter comprising a distal end and a proximal end, the distal end of the surgical cutter being configured to cut bone; a debris detection system mounted to the surgical cutter, the debris detection system comprising: a light source for emitting light; a receiver for receiving light emitted from the light source; and a microprocessor for determining a change in a characteristic of the light emitted by the light source and received by the receiver, and for determining the presence and/or amount of surgical debris present at a surgical site using a change in a characteristic of the light emitted by the light source and received by the receiver; and a controller for varying, based on the presence and/or amount of surgical debris present at the surgical site, at least one of (i) an amount of irrigation supplied to the surgical site, (ii) the feed rate of the surgical cutter, (iii) the direction of the surgical cutter, and (iv) the spindle speed of the surgical cutter.
