METHODS AND SYSTEMS FOR CHARACTERIZING A POROUS ROCK SAMPLE EMPLOYING COMBINED CAPILLARY PRESSURE AND NMR MEASUREMENTS

A method (and corresponding system) that characterizes a porous rock sample is provided, which involves subjecting the porous rock sample to an applied experimental pressure where a first fluid that saturates the porous rock sample is displaced by a second fluid, and subsequently applying an NMR pulse sequence to the rock sample, detecting resulting NMR signals, and generating and storing NMR data representative of the detected NMR signals. The application of experimental pressure and NMR measurements can be repeated over varying applied experimental pressure to obtain NMR data associated with varying applied experimental pressure values. The NMR data can be processed using inversion to obtain a probability distribution function of capillary pressure values as a function of NMR property values. The probability distribution function of capillary pressure values as a function of NMR property values can be processed to determine at least one parameter indicative of the porous rock sample.

This disclosure provides a method of measuring the axial rotation of a selected vertebra of a patient using a magnetic resonance (MR) image. The method includes: identifying, in the MR image, two or more features of the selected vertebra; determining a first axis connecting the identified features; identifying, in the MR image, two or more features of the patient's surrounding anatomy that are not features of the selected vertebra; determining a second axis connecting the identified features of the patient's surrounding anatomy; measuring the angular difference between the first and second axes; and determining the axial rotation of the cervical vertebra based on the measurement. In some examples of the disclosure, determining the axial rotation of the cervical vertebra is based on the degree of perpendicularity between the first and second axes.

Coil arrangement for transmitting high-frequency radiation
11105870 · 2021-08-31 · ·

A coil arrangement is for transmitting high frequency radiation. In an embodiment, the coil arrangement includes a transmission coil with a planar design and a passive, tubular part-body coil. The part-body coil is designed to radially enclose an examination volume relative to a direction. The examination volume includes a part of a patient's body. Furthermore, the part-body coil and the transmission coil are galvanically decoupled, and at the same time the part-body coil and the transmission coil are inductively coupled. The transmission coil is designed, by way of an emitted first high frequency radiation, to excite the part-body coil inductively, causing an enforced electromagnetic oscillation. The part-body coil emits second high frequency radiation in the event of an enforced electromagnetic oscillation. The coil arrangement of an embodiment can be used in a magnetic resonance unit without an integrated high frequency unit.
