In one example, a RF coil assembly for an MRI system includes a distributed capacitance loop portion comprising at least three distributed capacitance conductor wires encapsulated and separated by a dielectric material, a coupling electronics portion including a preamplifier, and a coil-interfacing cable extending between the coupling electronics portion and an interfacing connector of the RF coil assembly.

The method comprises positioning a patient in an upright posture in an imaging volume of a magnet resonance imaging magnet with the spine of the patient adjacent to an antenna and capturing magnetic resonance imaging signals from a first portion of the patient's spine using the antenna with the patient positioned in a first position. The method may further comprise adjusting the patient position along a substantially vertical direction to a second position and capturing magnetic resonance imaging signals from a second portion of the patient's spine using the antenna with the patient positioned in the second position.

The magnetic resonance imaging system comprises a magnetic resonance imaging antenna (113, 113′) comprising multiple loop antenna elements (114, 114′) with multiple infrared thermometry sensors (115, 115′). The magnetic resonance imaging antenna is configured for being positioned adjacent to an external surface (119) of the subject and at least a portion of the multiple infrared thermometry sensors are directed towards the external surface. The magnetic resonance imaging system further comprises a memory (134, 136) containing machine executable instructions (150, 152) and pulse sequence instructions (140). The machine executable instructions causes a processor controlling the system to: acquire (200) the magnetic resonance data by controlling the magnetic resonance imaging system with the pulse sequence instructions; repeatedly (202) measure at least one surface temperature (146) of the subject with the multiple infrared thermometry sensors during acquisition of the magnetic resonance data; and perform (204) a predefined action if the at least one surface temperature is above a predefined temperature.

A technique for reconciling large sensitivity area and high sensitivity for deep part in a multi-channel array coil of an MRI apparatus without complicating the configuration, and realizing both higher speed imaging and high image quality is provided. An RF coil (array coil) of a magnetic resonance imaging apparatus comprising a plurality of subcoils is provided. At least one of the subcoils is a first subcoil of which resonance frequency as that of the subcoil alone differs from magnetic resonance frequency. The first subcoil is adjusted so that it magnetically couples with a second subcoil, which is at least one other subcoil, and thus resonates at the same frequency as the magnetic resonance frequency. Input and output terminals of the first subcoil and the second subcoil are connected to different low input and output impedance signal processing circuits, respectively.

SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR MAGNETIC RESONANCE IMAGING

The present disclosure provides a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) radio frequency (RF) coil assembly. The MRI RF coil assembly may include one or more coils and one or more control circuits. Each of the one or more coils may include a first end and a second end. Each of the one or more control circuits may electrically connect the first end and the second end of one of the one or more coil. Each of the one or more control circuits may be configured to adjust an operation of the coil that is electrically connected with the control circuit based on an input control signal. The one or more control circuits may be located at different regions.

Embodiments relate to cylindrical MRI coils with at least one row as a birdcage row in a transmit mode. One example embodiment is a MRI Radio Frequency (RF) coil array comprising two or more rows of four or more RF coil elements each. Each of the RF coil elements can be configured to resonate at a working frequency of the coil array in a receive mode. At least one of the rows can be configured as a birdcage coil in the transmit mode, and the two or more rows can inductively couple together such that all the two or more rows can resonate together in the transmit mode at the working frequency.
