An optical fiber connector includes a housing unit and an operating unit. The housing unit includes a resilient retaining arm member. The operating unit includes a pivot seat, a hook member pivotally connected to the pivot seat, rotatable relative to the pivot seat, and having a front end that abuts against the resilient retaining arm member, and an operating rod pivotally connected to a rear end of the hook member. When the operating rod is pulled rearwardly, the hook member is driven to pivotally rotate relative to the pivot seat such that, the hook member presses and moves the rear end of the resilient retaining arm member, so as to deform the resilient retaining arm member, thereby allowing for removal of an adapter from the optical fiber connector.

DUPLEX FIBER OPTIC COMPONENTS SUITABLE FOR POLARITY REVERSAL

Embodiments of the present disclosure provide techniques for a fiber optic connector assembly configured for polarity reversal in accordance with some embodiments. An assembly may include a housing to receive a fiber optic cable, at least one back post connected with the housing, a ferrule including at least an optical fiber of the fiber optic cable, insertable into the back post, and a connector component comprising a front housing. The front housing may hold at least a portion of the ferrule and detachably couple with the back post. The back post may include a retaining element to provide rotatable coupling of the front housing relative to the ferrule, the back post and the housing. Other embodiments may be described and/or claimed.

An optical connection includes a plurality of ferrules, an optical contact to allow transfer of light, a mechanical contact to allow torque transfer from the optical connection, and a rotational self-alignment structure to allow optical fibers of different optical connectors to self-rotate into rotational self-alignment upon action of connecting, wherein the ferrules are aligned and engage the torque transfer. The rotational self-alignment structure can be a tooth configuration, a helical thread configuration, a ferrule guide configuration, a spring sleeve configuration, derivatives thereof and combinations therefrom.

Fiber Bragg Grating Multi-point Pressure Sensing Guidewire With Birefringent Component

A system and method are presented for detecting and measuring pressure within a region of a body lumen or vessel. The pressure sensing system includes a light source for transmitting light through a pathway of polarization maintaining fiber optic wire. A distal portion of the polarization maintaining fiber optic wire is engaged to and extends along a guidewire. The distal portion of the fiber optic wire includes pressure sensing station(s) made up of fiber Bragg gratings (FBG). The light transmitted to and reflected from the FBGs on the two polarization modes of the polarization maintaining fiber optic wire can be analyzed to provide one or more pressure values.

A fiber optic plug, suitable for multi-core fiber (MCF), is structured to hold satellite cores of the MCF in a precise angular positions so as to attain suitable alignment with satellite cores of a mating connector. The plug includes features to permit a ferrule holding the MCF to move longitudinally relative to the connector's housing, so that a spring may control a mating force to an abutting ferrule of a mating connector. The ferrule may be held by ferrule barrel having splines projecting away from an outer peripheral surface. The splines may slide longitudinally within notches of the connector housing or a strength member attached to the connector housing. The notches and splines have a tight tolerance, so that the satellite cores remain in a desired, set angular position.
