Fiber optic connector and assembly thereof

A factory processed and assembled optical fiber arrangement is configured to pass through tight, tortuous spaces when routed to a demarcation point. A connector housing attaches to the optical fiber arrangement at the demarcation point (or after leaving the tight, tortuous spaces) to form a connectorized end of the optical fiber. A fiber tip is protected before leaving the factory until connection is desired.

OPTICAL FIBER ADAPTER, OPTICAL FIBER CONNECTOR PLUG, CONNECTOR ASSEMBLY, AND COMMUNICATION DEVICE

An optical fiber adapter is provided, including an adapter body provided with a first slot, the first slot being used for connecting to an optical fiber connector in insertion fashion; a first locking structure, the first locking structure being provided on the adapter body and being used for engaging with a second locking structure of an optical fiber connector plug to fix the optical fiber adapter and the optical fiber connector plug; and a press member, the press member being connected to the adapter body, and the press member being capable of sliding with respect to the adapter body to drive the first locking structure and the second locking structure to be unlocked. Also provided are an optical fiber connector plug, a connector assembly comprising the optical fiber adapter and the optical fiber connector plug, and a communications device comprising the optical fiber adapter.

Fiber optic adapter assembly

A fiber optic adapter assembly is provided with a floating adapter module. The adapter assembly includes a housing, an adapter module, and a single biasing member disposed in the housing and concentrically aligned with the adapter module. The single biasing member can bias the adapter module in a direction toward an end of the housing and be compressible in the opposite direction toward the other end of the housing.

A fiber optic connector plug includes a housing. The housing includes a central axis, opposing lateral sides and a top side extending between the opposing lateral sides, and an interior channel, extending through the housing, in a direction parallel to the central axis, from a first end portion of the housing to a second end portion of the housing. The housing also includes a latch, coupled to the housing at the top side. The housing further includes a ferrule, extending from the first end portion of the housing. The housing additionally includes a shutter, coupled to the first end portion of the housing such that the shutter is pivotable and translationally slidable, relative to the first end portion of the housing, between a closed position, in which the shutter covers the ferrule, and an open position, in which the shutter does not cover the ferrule.

Optical device

A first optical device is adapted to couple to a second optical device along a coupling direction and includes two spaced apart pairs of leading and trailing pads, such that when the first optical device lands and slides on a landing surface of the second optical device to optically couple to the second optical device, and for each pair of leading and trailing pads, the leading pad prevents any debris on the landing surface from collecting on the trailing pad. Upon full coupling of the first optical device with the second optical device, the leading pads do not make contact with the landing surface. The first optical device may be, for example, an optical ferrule or a cradle having a recess adapted to receive an optical ferrule.

Alignment adapter and alignment design for a connector therefor

An adapter with novel alignment features engages alignment features on a plug, providing general alignment of the ferrule holders and ferrules in the plug. After the plug engages the adapter, the ferrule holders engage a second set of alignment features in the adapter to provide fine alignment for the ferrules.
