FIELD INSTALLED FIBER OPTIC CONNECTOR

The present disclosure relates to a field installable connector system. The connector system includes a factory terminated subassembly including a ferrule terminating an optical fiber of an optical fiber cable. The factory terminated subassembly has a small transverse cross-section to facilitate routing through a duct. The connector system also includes a field installable subassembly including various connector components that can be installed after the factory terminated subassembly has been routed through a duct. The components can be sealed and hardened.

Connection module for cable seal gel block

Aspects and techniques of the present disclosure relate to an enclosure (10) including a housing, a volume of sealant (66) that defines a port (28) in communication with an interior of the housing, and a fiber optic connection module (32) including a sleeve that mounts within the port with the volume of sealant forming a seal about an exterior of the sleeve. The sleeve includes an inner end (34) adjacent the interior of the housing and an outer end (36) outside the housing. The fiber optic connection module also includes a demateable fiber optic connection interface adjacent the outer end of the sleeve. The demateable fiber optic connection interface includes a fiber optic connector. Other aspects of the present disclosure relate to fiber optic connection modules having features that make such modules suitable to be mounted within a port defined by a volume of sealant.

An optical connector includes a sleeve that positions a front end portion of a first ferrule and a front end portion of a second ferrule so as to face each other on the same axis, a first connection retaining member and a second connection retaining member that maintain a state in which the front end portions of the first and second ferrules contact each other and press against each other, and a coil spring that generates a force with which the front end portions of the first and second ferrules press against each other. Optical fiber cables can be connected to each other by containing the first ferrule and the second ferrule, which are attached to the sleeve, respectively in the first connection retaining member and the second connection retaining member and by coupling the first connection retaining member and the second connection retaining member to each other.

Multi-fiber fiber optic connector

A fiber optic cable assembly includes a fiber optic cable and a fiber optic connector. The cable includes a jacket having an elongated transverse cross-sectional profile that defines a major axis and a minor axis. Strength components of the cable are anchored to the connector. The fiber optic connector includes a multi-fiber ferrule defining a major axis that is generally perpendicular to the major axis of the jacket and a minor axis that is generally perpendicular to the minor axis of the jacket. Certain types of connectors include a connector body defining a side opening that extends along a length of the connector body; a multi-fiber ferrule configured for lateral insertion into the connector body through the side opening; and a cover that mounts over the side opening after the multi-fiber ferrule has been inserted into the connector body through the side opening.

Fiber optic connection assemblies that may include hybrid adapters and connector assemblies are generally described. The hybrid adapter may be configured to connect a first connector type and a second connector type, the first connector type being different from the second connector type. For example, the first connector type may be a micro connector and the second connector type may be an LC connector. A connector assembly may be configured as a micro connector having a tension element configured to facilitate optimized optical performance by spring loading the ferrules while maintaining a small form factor.

Optical component assembly, optical receptacle, and transceiver module for optical communications

An optical component assembly includes a light-guiding member; a cylindrical member which retains the light-guiding member in a through hole thereof; and a projection which is provided at one end of the cylindrical member so as to extend beyond an outer periphery of the cylindrical member, and is engageable in a groove which is formed in a cylindrical shell so as to extend in an axial direction of the cylindrical shell and then turn at a distal end thereof in a circumferential direction of the cylindrical shell. By fixing the cylindrical shell to the projection, the cylindrical shell becomes attachable and detachable. It is possible to provide an optical receptacle and a transceiver module for optical communications having easy removal of foreign matters.
