20220035102 · 2022-02-03 ·

The present disclosure is directed to a lockable optical connector. The connector includes an adapter member, an inner frame member, an outer frame member, an annular compression member, and a lock member. The inner frame member non-rotatably couples to the adapter member. The outer frame member retains the coupling between the inner frame member and the adapter member and physically couples to the adapter member, to provide a first locking mechanism. The annular compression member is disposed proximate the outer frame member and the locking member couples to the external surface of the inner frame member, compressing the annular compression member against the outer frame member to provide a second locking mechanism. A sealing element may be disposed between the outer frame member and the adapter member and a sealing element may be disposed between the outer frame member and the inner frame member to provide a weather-proof and water-tight lockable optical connector.

Optical connector arrangements terminate at least seventy-two optical fibers. The optical connector arrangements include multiple optical ferrules that each terminates multiple optical fibers. Some example optical connectors can terminate about 144 optical fibers. Each optical connector includes a fiber take-up arrangement and a flange extending outwardly from a connector housing arrangement. The fiber take-up arrangement manages excess length of the optical fibers. A threadable coupling nut can be disposed on the connector housing arrangement to engage the outwardly extending flange. Certain types of optical connector arrangements include furcation cables spacing the connector housing arrangement form the fiber take-up arrangement.

A fiber optic cable assembly includes a fiber optic cable and a fiber optic connector. The cable includes a jacket having an elongated transverse cross-sectional profile that defines a major axis and a minor axis. Strength components of the cable are anchored to the connector. The fiber optic connector includes a multi-fiber ferrule defining a major axis that is generally perpendicular to the major axis of the jacket and a minor axis that is generally perpendicular to the minor axis of the jacket. Certain types of connectors include a connector body defining a side opening that extends along a length of the connector body; a multi-fiber ferrule configured for lateral insertion into the connector body through the side opening; and a cover that mounts over the side opening after the multi-fiber ferrule has been inserted into the connector body through the side opening.

SEALING AND RETENTION PLUG FOR A HYBRID CABLE

A system (10) and method that facilitates the delivery of power and fiber communications together is provided. The system and method enables quick and easy connection of a hybrid cable (12) to telecommunication equipment. The system provides a sealed robust connection for both conductors (78, 80) and fibers (50) at a single location (56). It can be used to avoid the need for local powering of fiber based communication devices and networks.

Optical component assembly, optical receptacle, and transceiver module for optical communications

An optical component assembly includes a light-guiding member; a cylindrical member which retains the light-guiding member in a through hole thereof; and a projection which is provided at one end of the cylindrical member so as to extend beyond an outer periphery of the cylindrical member, and is engageable in a groove which is formed in a cylindrical shell so as to extend in an axial direction of the cylindrical shell and then turn at a distal end thereof in a circumferential direction of the cylindrical shell. By fixing the cylindrical shell to the projection, the cylindrical shell becomes attachable and detachable. It is possible to provide an optical receptacle and a transceiver module for optical communications having easy removal of foreign matters.

Connector

A connector includes a cable holding portion, a first holding member having a first male screw portion and a first guide portion, an optical connector, an optical module, a second holding member having a second male screw portion and a second guide portion, and a coupling nut having a female screw portion. In cooperation with each other, the first and second guide portions allow a relative movement of the first holding member with respect to the second holding member in the front-rear direction while regulating a relative movement of the first holding member with respect to the second holding member in a circumferential direction about an axis parallel to the front-rear direction. Relative positions of the first holding member and the second holding member in the front-rear direction are maintained by the female screw portion being meshed with both of the first and the second male screw portions.
