The first display panel includes a first scanning line, a first signal line, a first pixel electrically connected to the first scanning line and the first signal line, and the first pixel includes a first pixel electrode including first line portions extending parallel to the first signal line. The second display panel includes a second scanning line, a second signal line, and a second pixel electrically connected to the second scanning line and the second signal line, and the second pixel includes a second pixel electrode including second line portions intersecting the second signal line in plan view.
Display system
A local-dimming display generally includes a light source configured to generate a backlight, a first display aligned with the light source and having multiple first pixels, wherein each first pixel is configured to selectively pass and block the backlight, and a second display aligned with the first display and having multiple second pixels. A particular pixel is controlled to pass the backlight. The particular pixel corresponds with an aligned pixel and multiple parallax pixels of the first pixels controlled at a first transmit level, and multiple neighboring pixels of the first pixels controlled at one or more second transmit levels. The one or more second transmit levels are less than or equal to the first transmit level. The first pixels cooperating at the first transmit level and the second transmit levels selectively presents the backlight to the second display with a declining intensity pattern in the neighboring pixels.
Display Device and Electronic Device
A display device includes a first region and a second region adjacent to the first region. A display element included in the first region has a function of reflecting visible light and a function of emitting visible light. A display element included in the second region has a function of emitting visible light. In an electronic device including the display device, the first region is located on a first surface (e.g., top surface) on which a main image is displayed, and the second region is located on a second surface (e.g., side surface) on which an auxiliary image is displayed.

DISPLAY DEVICE
According to one embodiment, a display device including a first transparent substrate, a second transparent substrate, a liquid crystal layer, a third transparent substrate, and a transparent layer having a refractive index lower than a refractive index of the third transparent substrate, wherein the transparent layer includes a plurality of band portions including first to third band portions, a second end portion has a smaller width than a first end portion in band portions, the second end portion of the second band portion has a smaller width than the second end portion of the first band portion, and the second end portion of the third band portion has a smaller width than the second end portion of the first band portion.
DISPLAY DEVICE
A display device for switching a viewing angle, can include a display panel, a polarizing plate disposed on the display panel, a light path control cell disposed on the polarizing plate and including a liquid crystal layer, and a light path conversion film disposed on the light path control cell and including a plurality of molecules including a polarization alignment dye. An absorption axis of the polarizing plate can be substantially perpendicular to an absorption axis of the light path conversion film. The display device can switch to a shared mode or a shielding mode depending on whether or not a voltage is applied to the light path control cell, thereby providing the display device that switches its viewing angle effectively.
Polarization modulator
A polarization modulator includes a first liquid crystal cell and a second liquid crystal cell. The first liquid crystal cell has a first type of liquid crystals configured to rotate an optical axis of light parallel to a first plane of the first liquid crystal cell. The second liquid crystal cell is configured to receive the light from the first liquid crystal cell. The second liquid crystal cell has a second type of liquid crystals configured to rotate the optical axis of the light perpendicular to a second plane of the second liquid crystal cell.
Optical surface mapping system
A liquid crystal element includes a substrate, a diffractive optical element layer, and a liquid crystal material. The diffractive optical element layer has an uneven surface. The liquid crystal material is between the substrate and the uneven surface of the diffractive optical element layer. The liquid crystal material is disposed contiguously with the uneven surface of the diffractive optical element layer.
