The present disclosure provides a display device including: a display panel having a display region and a peripheral region surrounding the display region, the display panel including: an array substrate, an opposite substrate and a liquid crystal layer, wherein the array substrate and the opposite substrate are opposite to each other, the liquid crystal layer is between the array substrate and the opposite substrate, a light shielding layer is on a side of at least one of the array substrate and the opposite substrate proximal to the liquid crystal layer, and an orthographic projection of the light shielding layer on the array substrate is located in the peripheral region; and a light source configured to emit light to a lateral side of the display panel, the light being incident into the liquid crystal layer from the lateral side of the display panel.

A privacy function structure, a display panel, and a display device are provided in the present disclosure. The privacy function structure includes a privacy state and a non-privacy state. The privacy function structure includes a first conductive layer, a privacy liquid crystal layer, a light-transmitting cover plate, and a second conductive layer. The privacy liquid crystal layer is disposed on a side of the first conductive layer, the light-transmitting cover plate is disposed on a side of the privacy liquid crystal layer away from the first conductive layer, and the second conductive layer is disposed on a side of the light-transmitting cover plate facing the first conductive layer. The second conductive layer includes multiple conductive strips mutually parallel. By controlling on and off of the multiple conductive strips, the privacy function structure is switched between the privacy state and the non-privacy state.

According to one embodiment, a display device includes a first substrate including a light-shielding layer and a conductive line having a first side surface and a second side surface on a side opposite to the first side surface, a second substrate opposed to the first substrate, a polymer dispersed liquid crystal layer held between the first substrate and the second substrate, and including a polymer and liquid crystal molecules, and a light-emitting element opposed to an end portion of at least one of the first substrate and the second substrate, wherein the first side surface is closer to the light-emitting element than the second side surface, and the light-shielding layer covers at least the first side surface of the conductive line.

The first side has a vertical portion and a first inclined portion, the vertical portion is substantially vertical to the upper surface and a portion is concave in a cross-sectional view. An included angle between the first inclined portion and the lower surface is greater than 90 degrees and less than 180 degrees, and the first inclined portion is greater than the vertical portion in roughness.
