The present invention provides an electrophotographic apparatus in which the deterioration of electrical properties in repetitive use is suppressed even in the case where an electrophotographic photosensitive member absorbs moisture under a high-temperature and high-humidity environment. An undercoat layer of the electrophotographic photosensitive member provided in the electrophotographic apparatus contains () a metal oxide particle, () a particular benzophenone compound and () a compound represented by the following formula (2). ##STR00001##

The invention relates to a multilayer type electrophotographic photoreceptor comprising: a conductive support; and, on the conductive support, a charge generation layer containing a hydroxygallium phthalocyanine pigment and a charge transport layer, wherein the content of -chloronaphthalene in hydroxygallium phthalocyanine pigment in the charge generation layer is in a range of 0 ng/cm.sup.2 to 0.1 ng/cm.sup.2, the charge transport layer contains a non-halogen organic solvent having a boiling point of 140 C. or more, and the content of the non-halogen organic solvent having a boiling point of 140 C. or more is in a range of 0.1 g/cm.sup.2 to 5 g/cm.sup.2.

An electrophotographic photoconductor includes a conductive support; and a photoconductive layer that contains at least a charge generation material, a hole transport material, an electron transport material and a binder resin, and that is provided on the conductive support, wherein the photoconductive layer has an outermost layer that contains a charge generation material, a hole transport material, an electron transport material, a binder resin and a highly branched polymer that is obtained by polymerizing, in the presence of a polymerization initiator, a monomer having, in a molecule, two or more radically polymerizable double bonds and a monomer having, in a molecule, a long-chain alkyl group or an alicyclic group and at least one radically polymerizable double bond. The electrophotographic photoconductor exhibits superior operational stability and stably high image quality, without problems with image memory, a contact member, or image defects due to cracks caused by contamination by oils/fats or sebum.

An electrophotographic photoconductor includes a conductive support; a charge generation layer provided on the conductive support; and a charge transport layer containing a charge transport material, a binder resin, and a highly branched polymer having a long-chain alkyl group or an alicyclic group, provided on the charge generation layer as an outermost layer. The electrophotographic photoconductor has excellent contamination resistance against sebum or the like, stable electrical characteristics even upon repeated use, as well as superior transfer resistance and gas resistance. A method for producing the electrophotographic photoconductor is disclosed, as well as an electrophotographic apparatus including the electrophotographic photoconductor.

Provided is an electrographic photoconductor resistant to surface discharge and having good wear resistance. The electrographic photoconductor has a conductive support and a photosensitive layer disposed on the conductive support, the photosensitive layer containing a charge generation material and a charge transport material. A layer forming the surface of the electrographic photoconductor contains a resin binder forming the layer and a layered carbide dispersed in the resin binder. The layer forming the surface has a light transmittance in the range of 20 to 98% at a wavelength of 350 to 800 nm.

The subject invention relates to a charge transport layer forming coating liquid containing a charge transport material, at least one selected from the group consisting of polycarbonate resins and polyester resins, at least one of xylene and toluene, and cyclopentanone. The proportion of cyclopentanone in the charge transport layer forming coating liquid is in the range of 50% by mass to 85% by mass relative to the total mass of at least one of xylene and toluene and cyclopentanone.

A photosensitive layer includes a gallium phthalocyanine crystal and 0.2% by mass or more and 20% by mass or less of an arene compound based on the gallium phthalocyanine crystal, and the arene compound has a halogen atom or a halogen-substituted alkyl group, and a sulfonic acid group or a sulfonic acid salt group, as a substituent.
