Image forming apparatus having toner replenishment container control
An image forming apparatus to and from which a replenishment container accommodating toner is attachable includes a replenishment port to allow replenishment of toner from the replenishment container, which is arranged outside of the image forming apparatus, to a developer container therethrough in a state where the replenishment container is attached to the replenishment port, an opening/closing portion to open and close the replenishment port, and a locking member to move between a restricting position in which the locking member restricts movement of the opening/closing portion from the closed position to the open position, and an allowing position in which the movement of the opening/closing portion from the closed position to the open position is allowed. A controller maintains, when the replenishment container is attached to the replenishment port, the locking member in the restricting position in a case where a lifetime of the cartridge is less than a threshold.
Toner container and image forming system
A toner container includes a toner accommodating body and a nozzle including an opening configured to form a part of a discharge passageway through which toner may be discharged to outside of the toner container. A shutter is configured to open and close the opening of the nozzle, with the shutter being rotatable about a rotational axis between a first position in which the shutter closes the opening of the nozzle and a second position in which an opening of the shutter aligns with the opening of the nozzle to form the discharge passageway. A projection is positioned at an end portion of the toner container, with the projection including a first surface, a second surface, and a third surface. When the toner container is oriented such that the toner accommodating body is above the nozzle, the nozzle is above the projection, and the projection is at a bottommost side of the toner container, (i) the opening of the nozzle is positioned such that toner may be discharged from a lateral side of the toner container that is above the bottommost side, (ii) the first surface faces downward, (iii) the second surface faces downward, and (iv) the third surface faces upward.
DEVELOPER ACCOMMODATING DEVICE, DEVELOPING DEVICE, CARTRIDGE AND IMAGE FORMING APPARATUS
A developer accommodating device includes a frame extending in a longitudinal direction thereof and an opening portion provided on the frame. The frame includes a guide portion to mount the developer accommodating device on a developing unit along a mounting direction crossing the longitudinal direction, a first portion including first and second chambers arranged in parallel in a first direction crossing the longitudinal direction, and a second portion communicating with the first and second chambers with respect to the longitudinal direction and a volume thereof is larger than that of the first portion. The first chamber, in which the opening portion is formed, does not directly communicate with the second chamber with respect to the first direction but communicates with the second chamber via the second portion. As seen in the longitudinal direction, a cross sectional area of the second chamber is equal to or larger than that of the first chamber.
Image forming apparatus and cartridge having shutters to open and close a developer supplying and receiving ports
A first contact portion provided on a first shutter member that opens and closes a receiving port for receiving a developer from a cartridge and a second contact portion provided on the cartridge are configured to contact each other in an attachment and detachment direction of the cartridge so that the first shutter member is in a position at which the receiving port is opened. The first shutter member is urged by a first urging member so that a contacting state between the first contact portion and the second contact portion is maintained until a second shutter member that opens and closes a supplying port of the cartridge closes the supplying port when the cartridge is discharged from the apparatus body.
IMAGE FORMING SYSTEM
An attached portion of an image forming apparatus includes a rotating member of which at least a part is exposed outside the image forming apparatus when the developer container is attached, and a rotation restricting mechanism that is movable between a restricting position to restrict rotation of the rotating member and an allowable position to allow rotation of the rotating member, and includes a restricting member that is at the restricting position when the developer container is not attached. The developer container is attached to the attached portion so that the discharging portion engaging portion and the shutter engaging portions are engaged with the frame engaged portions and the rotating member engaged portions respectively when the container shutter is in the close state, and the restricting member moves from the restricting position to the allowable position when the developer container is attached to the attached portion.
DEVELOPER SUPPLY CONTAINER AND DEVELOPER SUPPLYING SYSTEM
With a mounting operation of a supply container, a supported portion 11b of a developer receiving portion 11 is supported by a receipt supporting portion 30c of a lifting portion 30. With further mounting operation, a shutter sliding portion 30b of the lifting portion 30 slides on a shutter inclined portion 4f of a shutter 4. The developer receiving portion 11 is displaced so as to bring a receiving opening into communication with a discharge opening by operating, using the shutter 4, the lifting portion 30 supporting the supported portion 11b of the developer receiving portion 11. By this, a load required for movement of the developer receiving portion 11 is reduced to achieve smooth mounting of the supply container.
Print materials replenishment
In some examples, a print materials container can include a dispense mechanism to dispense print materials directly to an in-situ reservoir of a printing device, a lock feature to engage a fill port during connection of the dispense mechanism to the fill port, and a valve integrated with the dispense mechanism for connecting the dispense mechanism to the fill port of the reservoir and comprising an output opening offset from a center axis of a tip of the dispense mechanism. The valve can open responsive to rotation of the valve opening with respect to the lock feature such that opposite openings align.
DEVELOPER SUPPLY CONTAINER AND DEVELOPER SUPPLYING SYSTEM
A developer supply container includes a developer accommodating body and a developer discharging body in fluid communication with the developer accommodating body. A track is positioned at a side of the developer discharging body, with the track including a surface that extends from a first position to a second position. When the developer supply container is oriented with the track positioned below a horizontal plane that includes a rotational axis of the developer accommodating body and a discharge passageway through which developer is discharged to outside of the developer supply container is formed at the bottommost side of the developer supply container, the second position is closer to the horizontal plane than the first position is to the horizontal plane, the surface faces upward, and the track extends such that a plane perpendicular to the rotational axis and passing through the track passes through an end of the discharge passageway.
Print particle replenishment device
Examples of a print a print particle replenishment device are described. In some examples, a print particle replenishment device includes a rotating member to rotate about a central axis of the print particle replenishment device. In some examples, the rotating member includes an opening offset from the central axis. In some examples of a print particle replenishment device, a nozzle is offset from the central axis, where the nozzle is to slide with respect to an interior plane of the rotating member to align with the opening to transfer print particles through the nozzle and opening when in an open position. In some examples, a print particle replenishment device includes an extension that protrudes with respect to the opening to engage a port cover of a host device to move the port cover to open a port for replenishment at rotation.
TONER CONTAINER AND IMAGE FORMING SYSTEM
A toner container includes a toner storage unit, a container base portion including a discharge port provided on an outer surface of the container base portion, the outer surface extending in a first direction, the discharge port communicating with the toner storage unit, and a container shutter configured to be rotatable about a rotation axis extending in a direction along the first direction between a shielding position and an open position. The container base portion includes an engaging portion configured to be engaged with an engaged portion of the image forming apparatus so that rotation of the container base portion with respect to the image forming apparatus about the rotation axis is restricted. At least a part of the engaging portion of the container base portion is exposed from the container shutter in a case where the container shutter is in the shielding position.
