Developing device to form electrostatic latent images

An example device to develop an electrostatic latent includes first and second passages coupled to each other through first and second openings. A first stir-and-transport member located in the first passage includes a first helical blade to stir and transport a developer along the first passage in a first direction and to supply the developer to a developing roller. A second stir-and-transport member located in the second passage includes a second helical blade to stir and transport the developer along the second passage in a second direction. A developer discharge pipe is coupled to the developer container to communicate with a downstream side of the first passage. The first stir-and-transport member includes a first reverse helical blade having a pitch between approximately 0.5 times and 1.5 times the pitch of the first helical blade and located downstream of the first helical blade and disposed downstream of the second opening.

Developing device using spiral structures

An imaging system comprises a stirring-conveyance member to supply developer to a developing roller. The stirring-conveyance member includes a spiral structure to convey the developer and a reverse spiral structure disposed downstream the spiral structure in a conveying direction of the developer. The reverse spiral structure has a maximum outer diameter at an upstream end in the conveying direction and a minimum outer diameter at a downstream end in the conveying direction. The minimum outer diameter is approximately ⅗ or less, of the maximum outer diameter.

Image forming apparatus

An image forming apparatus includes a heating device including a heater, a developing device, and an airflow generation device. The heater includes a base, a heat generator, an electrode portion, and conductive portions. The conductive portions are disposed on one side and another side in a longitudinal direction in a heat generation region and spaced apart in a lateral direction intersecting the longitudinal direction. A maximum total value among total values of squares of current flowing in the conductive portions at longitudinal positions on the one side is larger than that on said another side. The developing device includes a rotating member and sliding portions. A sliding portion having highest temperature in operation is disposed on one side of the developing device being same as the one side of the heater in the longitudinal direction. The airflow generation device generates an airflow toward the one side of the developing device.

The valve body includes an inlet side oriented toward the conveyance path and an outlet side disposed opposite the inlet side to allow a passage of the the excess developer from the conveyance path through the valve body toward the discharge port, when a pressure applied to the inlet side is greater than a pressure threshold value.

A developing device includes a developer carrying member and first and second conveyance members. The first conveyance member conveys a developer in a first direction through a first conveyance path to the developer carrying member. The second conveyance member conveys the developer in a second direction through a second conveyance path included in a circulation path along with the first conveyance path. The second conveyance member has a helical second screw around a second shaft. The second conveyance path includes a developer replenishing port and a developer discharge port. The second screw is approximately constant in diameter in a second section being a portion extending a predetermined distance from an end of the discharge port in the second direction when viewed in a top view. The second screw conveys the developer at a lower speed in the second section than on an upstream side with respect to the second section.

A magnet roller employs a magnetic pole pattern in which a first magnetic pole arranged substantially opposing a regulating blade in an upstream side of a rotation direction of a developing sleeve and a second magnetic pole next to the first magnetic pole in the upstream side have the same polarity, an opposing member having surface roughness higher than at least a particle diameter of carrier is arranged opposing the magnet roller at a position where magnetic force between the first magnetic pole and the second magnetic pole next to the first magnetic pole in the upstream side is almost zero, and an apex of a partition wall provided between a developer bearing member and a developer conveying member provided in a first chamber is positioned below a region where magnetic force formed by the magnet roller is almost zero.
