The pressure force release unit switches a position of the heating unit between a first position at which a predetermined pressure force is applied from the pressure roller to a fixing nip portion, and a second position at which the applied predetermined pressure force is reduced or released. The apparatus main body includes first and second doors that are opened and closed and contain the fixing unit. The first cam member rotates with an open and close of the first door, and the second cam member rotates with an open and close of the second door. A rotational center of the second cam member is arranged coaxially with a rotational center of the first cam member.

An image forming apparatus includes an image forming portion, a fixing unit including a fixing member, a heating member, and a temperature detection portion, and a control portion configured to execute warm-up processing. If a temperature of the heating member at a first timing in a period of time in which the heating member is being heated in the warm-up processing is a first temperature, a temperature of the heating member at a second timing that is in the period of time and that is later than the first timing is a second temperature, and a temperature of the heating member at a timing different from the first timing and the second timing is a third temperature, the control portion is configured to change a fixing condition used in the job, based on the first temperature, the second temperature, and the third temperature.

An example image forming apparatus includes a main body, a printing engine to be disposed in the main body to form an image on a printing medium, a fixing apparatus including a fixing roller and a fixing belt disposed to face the fixing roller, and a jam prevention apparatus including a fixed frame disposed adjacent to the fixing apparatus, and a movable apparatus to be detachably fastened to the fixed frame through a plurality of adjusting screws, to adjust a gap with the fixing belt according to a fastening direction of the plurality of adjusting screws.

An image forming apparatus including an apparatus main body including an image forming device that forms an image on a recording material, a unit detachably mounted in the apparatus main body, a switching member pivotably provided in the apparatus main body, wherein while in a state in which the switching member has entered into the unit mounted in the apparatus main body, the switching member selectively switches a route through which the recoding material is guided, and a retracting member provided in the apparatus main body, wherein in a course of dismounting the unit from the apparatus main body, the retracting member retracts the switching member to an outside of a mount area of the unit.

A fixing device (7) includes a fixing member (21), a pressing member (22), a rotation detector (41), and an auxiliary driving part (42). The fixing member (21), with rotating around an axis, heats a toner image on a medium (S). The pressing member (22), with rotating around an axis, forms a pressing area (N) with the fixing member (21) and presses toner on the medium (S) passing through the pressing area (N). The rotation detector (41), when the medium (S) stops while being sandwiched between the fixing member (21) and the pressing member (22), detects rotation of the fixing member (21) or the pressing member (22) generated in a process of extracting the medium (S) toward an upstream side or a downstream side in a passing direction. The auxiliary driving part (42), while the medium (S) is being extracted, determines a rotating direction of the fixing member (21) or the pressing member (22) based on a detection result by the rotation detector (41), and rotates the fixing member (21) or the pressing member (22) in the rotating direction.

An image forming apparatus includes an image forming unit to form an image on a recording material and a fixing unit. The fixing unit includes a heating member and a pressing member to form a nip portion to nip and convey the recording material with the heating member.
