The image heating apparatus includes a pair of rotatable members configured to form a nip for heating an image on a recording material, a guide member configured to guide the recording material toward the nip, a supporting mechanism configured to rotatably support the guide member about an axis so that the guide member is movable between a first position at which the guide member guides the recording material and a second position at which the guide member blocks at least a portion of a feeding path of the recording material, and a locking mechanism configured to lock the guide member being in the first position. The locking mechanism releases locking with sliding movement of the guiding member in a direction of the axis.

A fusing device includes a pressure roller, a heating roller, a pressure applying element and a releasing element is provided. The pressure roller is installed in a frame. The heating roller opposite to the pressure roller is installed in a housing. The pressure applying element connects the pressure roller and the housing at a first side and applies a force on the pressure roller and the heating roller. The releasing element releases and locks the pressure roller and the housing at a second side. A printer from which jammed sheet may be easily removed is provided. The printer includes a frame, a housing, an image forming device, and the fusing device. The first and second sides are parallel to axial direction of the pressure roller and the heating roller. The image forming device forms an image on a medium. The fusing device fuses the image on the medium.

An image forming apparatus includes an image bearing member, a developer bearing member, a fixing unit including a heating member, a rotary member which is heated by the heating member, and a nip area where the rotary member comes into contact with a sheet, and configured to perform fixing by heating a developer image transferred to the sheet and fixing the developer image to the sheet in the nip area, and a control unit configured to execute, while the fixing is not performed, a mode in which the image bearing member is rotated with the developer bearing member being in a separated position and the heating member is controlled such that a temperature of a portion of a surface of the rotary member, after the rotary member passes through the nip area, is maintained higher than the temperature of the portion during the fixing.

An image forming apparatus includes an image forming section, a guide, a conveyance roller and a movement mechanism. The image forming section forms an image on an image receiving medium. The guide is arranged at a downstream side of the image forming section in a conveyance direction of the image receiving medium. The guide guides the image receiving medium. The conveyance roller is arranged at the downstream side of the image forming section in the conveyance direction of the image receiving medium. The conveyance roller conveys the image receiving medium along the guide. The movement mechanism moves at least one of the guide or the conveyance roller in a direction intersecting the conveyance direction of the image receiving medium.

The fixing device is provided on an upstream side of the attachable/detachable member in a draw-out direction of the attachable/detachable member, and fixes a toner image on a medium passing through a pressurized area formed between a heating member and a pressing member. The opening/closing interlocking part moves the shutter to an opening position when the attachable/detachable member is attached, and moves the shutter to a closing position when the attachable/detachable member is drawn out. The pressing interlocking part moves the heating member in a direction of pressing it against the other when the shifter is moved to the closing position, and moves the heating member in a direction of separating it away from the other when the shutter is moved to the closing position.

The fixing unit includes a held part protruding at a position corresponding to the holding part, and the held part enters the opening while pressing the contact part so that the held part fits into the opening.

An image forming apparatus includes an apparatus main body and a fixing device. The apparatus main body is formed such that its interior can be opened. The fixing device is supported by the apparatus main body in such a way as to pivot so as to be disposed on an outside of the apparatus main body in a state where the interior of the apparatus main body is opened.

Damper mechanism and image forming apparatus therewith

A damper mechanism has first and second rail members, a biasing member, and a slide member. The first rail member is fixed inside the opening/closing member along the up/down direction, and has an oblong guide hole formed therein extending along the longitudinal direction. The second rail member has fixed to a top end part thereof an engaging pin inserted through the guide hole, and has a bottom end part swingably supported on the apparatus main body. The biasing member biases the first and second rail members in a direction in which these approach each other. The slide member is made of resin fixed to the engaging pin, slides while in contact with the first rail member and the opening/closing member, and prevents contact between the engaging pin and an inner circumferential rim of the guide hole.

A fixing device includes first and second rotatable members; a moving mechanism configured to move the first rotatable member away from the second rotatable member; a flag provided downstream of the nip with respect to a recording material feeding direction and retractable by passing of the recording material; a sensor configured to detect whether or not the flag is retracted by contact with the recording material; a movable guide movable together with the first rotatable member away from the second rotatable member and from said flag by the moving mechanism and configured to guide the recording material; and a stationary guide provided at such a fixed position that the stationary guide opposes the flag in the presence of the recording material in the fixing device, irrespective of a position of the movable guide member. The stationary guide is immovable together with the movable guide.
