An image forming apparatus includes an apparatus main assembly having a door, a feeding unit including first and second rotatable members configured to form a nip for feeding a sheet and a moving mechanism configured to move the first rotatable member in a spacing direction relative to the second rotatable member, a power source provided in the apparatus main assembly, and a motor provided in the apparatus main assembly and configured to drive the moving mechanism. The feeding unit is detachably mountable to the apparatus main assembly upon opening of the door. An electric power supplying path is capable of supplying electric power from the power source to the motor via the feeding unit despite the door being in an open state.

A fixing device includes: a heating rotator and a pressure rotator configured to be pressed against and separated from each other, the rotators being rotated while being pressed against each other to thermally fix a toner image formed on a recording medium at a nip portion between the rotators; and a separating member configured to separate the recording medium to which the toner image is thermally fixed, the separating member being enabled to be brought close to and be separated from the nip portion between the rotators, wherein when the rotators in a pressure contact state are separated from each other, the rotators are separated after the separating member is moved away from the nip portion, and when the rotators in a separated state are pressed against each other, the separating member is brought close to the nip portion after the rotators are pressed against each other.
FIXING DEVICE AND IMAGE FORMING APPARATUS INCLUDING THE SAME
A fixing device includes a clutch provided between a driving motor and a rotary cam, and a control unit. In a case in which press-contact force of the pressure roller is a high load, when a jam state has been detected, the control unit transmits power to the rotary cam by switching the clutch to a power transmission state, and stops the driving motor at the time of rotation of the rotary cam by a predetermined angle.
SEPARABLE FUSING DEVICE AND PRINTER USING THE SAME
A fusing device includes a pressure roller, a heating roller, a pressure applying element and a releasing element is provided. The pressure roller is installed in a frame. The heating roller opposite to the pressure roller is installed in a housing. The pressure applying element connects the pressure roller and the housing at a first side and applies a force on the pressure roller and the heating roller. The releasing element releases and locks the pressure roller and the housing at a second side. A printer from which jammed sheet may be easily removed is provided. The printer includes a frame, a housing, an image forming device, and the fusing device. The first and second sides are parallel to axial direction of the pressure roller and the heating roller. The image forming device forms an image on a medium. The fusing device fuses the image on the medium.

A fixing device includes a heating rotary body, a pressing unit that presses a recording medium against the heating rotary body at a fixation region, a backward rotation unit that rotates the heating rotary body in a direction opposite to a direction of rotation at a time of fixation in a case where the recording medium is wound around the heating rotary body, and a peeling unit that is brought relatively close to an outer peripheral surface of the heating rotary body at a position upstream of the fixation region in a transport direction of the recording medium and that peels off the recording medium wound around the heating rotary body at a time of backward rotation of the heating rotary body.

An image forming apparatus includes a casing including a first side plate and a second side plate, a cartridge, an exposure unit, a transfer unit, a fixing unit, a nip pressure change unit, a door, and a connection portion. The first side plate includes an opening portion. The connection portion is arranged so as to penetrate the opening portion, and includes a first portion and a second portion. At least a part of the second portion is arranged so as to overlap with the exposure unit when viewed in a predetermined direction, and is arranged between the first side plate and the exposure unit in the predetermined direction.

The heating roller opposite to the pressure roller is installed in a housing. The releasing element releases and locks the pressure roller and the housing at a second side. A printer from which jammed sheet may be easily removed is provided. The printer comprises a frame, a housing, an image forming device, and the fusing device. The first and second sides are parallel to axial direction of the pressure roller and the heating roller. The image forming device forms an image on a medium. The fusing device fuses the image on the medium.
Fuser locking assembly for an electrophotographic imaging device
An imaging device, including a locking assembly connected to the frame of the imaging device and selectively engaged with the fuser assembly thereof when the fuser assembly is mounted to the frame. The locking assembly includes a lock member slidingly coupled to the frame between a first position in which the lock member engages with the fuser assembly for locking the fuser assembly to the frame and a second position in which the lock member is disengaged from the fuser assembly to allow the fuser assembly to be disconnected and removed from the frame. A lever mechanism is movably coupled to the frame and coupled to the lock member, wherein actuation of the lever mechanism moves the lock member between the first position and the second position.

A fixing device includes a fixing device main body and a fixing cover. The fixing device main body has an opening across a back portion and an upper portion of a conveying passage of a recording sheet. The fixing cover openably/closably covers the opening by rotatably supported with a first axle as a rotational central axle. The first axle extends in width direction of the recording sheet in a lower end of the back portion of the opening. The fixing cover includes a first fixing cover portion and a second fixing cover portion. The first fixing cover portion covers the back portion of the conveying passage and its lower end portion is rotatably supported with the first axle as the rotational central axle. The second fixing cover portion covers the upper portion of the conveying passage and has a bendable structure with respect to the first fixing cover portion.

An image forming apparatus includes a housing, a conveying member, a nip member, an urging member, a changing portion, a first transmission portion, a motor, a second transmission portion, and a switching member. The urging member is configured to urge one of the conveying member and the nip member. The changing portion is configured to change an urging force of the urging member. The opening/closing member is configured to generate a moving force when being moved. The second transmission portion is configured to transmit drive force of the motor to the first transmission portion to generate the moving force. The switching member is configured to switch to one of a transmitting state and a cutoff state. The switching member interrupts the transmission of the drive force from the second transmission portion to the first transmission portion in the cutoff state.
