A host apparatus, into which a card having a nonvolatile semiconductor memory is inserted, issues a check command to the card. The check command instructs to send information on whether the card supports a termination process in which the card shifts into a state ready for a stop of power supply from the host apparatus.

Provided are a communication system, a communication device, and a power saving method, which enable a communication partner device to reliably recognize a communication unit switched to an ON state in response to reception of a predetermined signal from the communication partner device. A BLE chip transmits a BLE BD address when a BT3 chip is in an OFF state. A mobile terminal identifies a BT3 BD address associated with the BLE BD address received from a BLE chip based on stored correspondence data. A card reader switches the state of the BT3 chip to an ON state when the BLE chip receives a predetermined signal transmitted from the mobile terminal. The BT3 chip switched to an ON state starts to communicate data to be used for predetermined information processing to and from the mobile terminal.

Power saving during a connection detection

An electronic device includes a receiver sense circuit configured to generate a detection signal responsive to detecting a connection to a sink device via a connector. The electronic device further includes a controller coupled to a hot plug detect (HPD) interface. The controller is configured to enable a direct current (DC) voltage source based on the detection signal received from the receiver sense circuit.

A computing system includes a system board having a system controller device with an interrupt input. A system expansion bus connector is located on the system board and includes power pin(s) and an interrupt signal pin connected to the interrupt input. A peripheral device expansion card system is coupled to the computing system through system expansion bus connector and includes a system power reporting device coupled to the power pin(s) to receive power from the computing system via the power pin(s), and a card controller device coupled to the system power reporting device and to the interrupt signal pin. The card controller device determines, using the system power reporting device, a power state of the computing system. The card controller device also sends, to the system controller device through the interrupt signal pin, an interrupt signal that the system controller device interprets as a hot plug event.
