Electronic device
An electronic device includes: an operation section, a reception section, a human body detection sensor, and a mode switching section. The mode switching section switches the electronic device between a normal operation mode permitting a normal operation and a sleep mode in a power saving state based on presence or absence of a detection signal from the human body detection sensor. Then the mode switching section stops in a case where a state in which the reception section receives an operation made by use of the operation section continues for a predefined period of time the switching between the normal operation mode and the sleep mode based on the presence or absence of the detection signal.
Image forming apparatus and low power driving method thereof
An image forming apparatus having a USB communication function includes a control interface unit to perform USB control communication, a data interface unit to perform USB data communication, and a control unit to perform an event in a low power mode according to a signal input through the control interface unit, and to perform an event in a normal mode according to a signal input through the control interface unit and the data interface unit. Therefore, the low power mode may be effectively implemented.
INFORMATION HANDLING SYSTEM LOCATION WAKEUP RADIO INTERFACE SYNCHRONIZED COMMUNICATIONS
An information handling system wirelessly interfaces with a location peripheral aid through primary radios that have a communication protocol, such as Bluetooth Low Energy or a wireless local area network, and through secondary radios having a low power wake and sleep using wake and sleep signals sent between the secondary radios. The location peripheral aid establishes communication with the information handling system, which reports its position to a network location to allow tracking location of the peripheral aid. The peripheral primary and secondary radio transmit and receive states operate with different profiles to manage power based upon bi-directional communications tracked over time.
Image processing apparatus capable of shifting to power saving mode, control method for the image processing apparatus, and program
An image processing apparatus capable of shifting to a power saving mode. The image processing apparatus includes a storing unit configured to store a document in a storage device, a notification unit configured to periodically notify an apparatus of a predetermined destination of information about a document that has been newly stored by the storing unit into the storage device, and a control unit configured to restrict shifting to a power saving mode in which the notification unit cannot make the notification after storage of a document by the storing unit has been completed and until the notification unit notifies at least information about the document.
AUTHENTICATION SYSTEM, OPERATING APPARATUS, AND AUTHENTICATION METHOD
An operating apparatus stores user information including authentication information of users permitted to use a process-carrying-out apparatus; acquires authentication information of a user of the process-carrying-out apparatus; in response, returns a state of the process-carrying-out apparatus from a power saving state into a normal state to carry out a process; carries out authentication of the user based on the authentication information of the user and the stored user information; if the authentication is not successful, requests the process-carrying-out apparatus to carry out authentication the user; if any authentication is successful, permits the use of the process-carrying-out apparatus; and, if the use of the process-carrying-out apparatus is permitted, stores the authentication information of the permitted user.
Information processing apparatus, non-transitory computer readable medium, and information processing method
An information processing apparatus includes a first controller, a second controller, and a shared memory. The first controller outputs a transition signal that indicates a transition to a power-saving mode in which power consumption is reduced compared to a normal mode. The second controller outputs instruction information that indicates an instruction provided from the first controller before the transition signal is output on the basis of the transition signal output from the first controller. The shared memory is connected to the first controller and the second controller to be shared, and stores the instruction information output from the second controller even after a transition is made to the power-saving mode.
Electronic device, control method of electronic device, and image forming apparatus
An electronic device, a control method of the electronic device, and an image forming apparatus to cut off unnecessary power after recognizing connection/disconnection statuses of Universal Serial Bus (USB) hosts/devices connected to a USB hub are provided. The electronic device includes a USB hub connected to a USB host/device, a first switch configured to switch power supply to the USB hub for reducing power consumption, a controller configured to turn the first switch off to cut off power supply to the USB hub when no USB host/device is connected to the USB hub or only a USB host/device not requiring constant power supply is connected to the USB hub.
Sleep mode control system to reduce power consumption and to provide a private power generation
To provide a sleep mode control system restricting power consumption while an image forming apparatus (ifma) is in a sleep mode (slm) and allowing a user to deactivate the sleep mode without impairing his/her convenience. The sleep mode control system includes the imf entering the slm to reduce power consumption and a power generator provided below a passage floor on which the imf is mounted. The power generator has a power generation unit, when stepped, provides a private power generation and an electromotive force detection unit detecting an electromotive force generated at the power generation unit successively, generating a pulse signal using the resulting electromotive force, and outputting the resulting pulse signal successively. The ifma has a sleep control part deactivating the slm, while the ifma is being in the slm, based on a signal pattern of the pulse signal outputted from the electromotive force detection unit.
IMAGE PROCESSING APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR CONTROLLING IMAGE PROCESSING APPARATUS
An image processing apparatus is configured to transit to a communicable power-saving state in which information exchange is possible through a network while power supply to a part of units of the apparatus is stopped. The apparatus includes a connection detection unit configured to detect a connection state of a network cable; and a power supply control unit configured to control a supply state of a power source according to the connection state of the network cable. When the network cable is changed from a connected state to a disconnected state, the power supply control unit controls the supply state of the power source so as to cause the apparatus to transit to a connection detectable power-saving state in which a power supply range is more limited than that in the communicable power-saving state and in which detection of the connection state of the network cable is possible by the connection detection unit.
INFORMATION PROCESSING APPARATUS AND RESTART EXECUTING METHOD
An information processing apparatus includes a setting unit, a storage unit, a determining unit, and a restart executing unit. The setting unit receives a setting of a time to periodically restart the information processing apparatus from a user. The storage unit stores therein the time received by the setting unit and a predetermined condition used for determination of whether to restart the information processing apparatus at the time. At a time of restarting the information processing apparatus at the time stored in the storage unit, the determining unit makes a decision to execute a restart when an operating state of the information processing apparatus meets the predetermined condition stored in the storage unit. The restart executing unit executes the restart in accordance with the decision made by the determining unit.
