Computer-readable medium, image processing device, and method for reducing time taken from input of print instruction until start of printing
A non-transitory computer-readable medium stores computer-readable instructions executable by a hardware processor communicably connected with a printing device and a user interface. The instructions are configured to, when executed by the hardware processor, cause the hardware processor to perform one or more printing processes. Each printing process includes, after obtaining a data selection instruction via the user interface, obtaining a print instruction corresponding to the data selection instruction via the user interface. Each printing process further includes starting generating the print data using target image data selected based on the data selection instruction, after obtaining the data selection instruction and before obtaining the print instruction. Each printing process further includes, even after the print data has been generated, not starting providing the print data until obtaining the print instruction, but starting providing the print data to the printing device after obtaining the print instruction.
Image processing apparatus for detecting a standing-up motion to change print mode and non-transitory computer readable medium
An image processing apparatus includes a detector and a change unit. The detector detects a standing-up motion of a person after receipt of a print instruction. The change unit changes from a low-power consumption mode to a printing mode in response to detection of the standing-up motion, the printing mode being a ready-to-print mode.
Print job initiation based upon direction of user movement
According to examples, a printer may include a processor and a memory on which is stored machine readable instructions that may cause the processor to access an instruction to print a print job of a user and determine whether the user is moving toward the printer. In response to a determination that the user is moving toward the printer, the instructions may cause the processor to initiate printing of the print job.
Image forming apparatus, image forming system, and method of controlling image forming apparatus
According to one or more embodiments, an image forming apparatus comprises a communication interface, an image forming unit, and a processor. The communication interface communicates with a plurality of information processing apparatuses via a network and receives print jobs from the information processing apparatuses. The image forming unit executes printing according to a first print job. The processor determines a presence of a user associated with a second print job near the image forming apparatus, and then determines, based on the presence of the user, whether to execute the first print job or to transmit or forward the first print job to another image forming apparatus.
Printing apparatus
A printing apparatus includes a conveying mechanism configured to convey a continuously-fed paper, a print head, a memory, and a controller. The controller obtains printing information including a plurality of pieces of the unit-image data, pitch information, and speed information of a continuously-fed paper. The controller determines a first period of time which is required to print a predetermined number of unit-images on the continuously-fed paper and a second period of time which is required to store the predetermined number of pieces of the unit-image data into the memory. The controller determines, based on the first period of time and the second period of time, a stored-number which is a number of pieces of the unit-image data to be stored into the memory and starts printing the plurality of unit-images when the stored-number of pieces of the unit-image data is stored into the memory.
Changing operational state of image forming apparatus based on distance of sensed body
An image forming apparatus includes a sensor to output a signal, and a processor. The processor is to change an operation state of the image forming apparatus based on the signal indicative of an amount of change in the signal maintained for a time period.

Method for producing worst-case comparison of greedy and optimal sheet scheduling
A method of generating a comparison of optimal sheet scheduling to greedy sheet scheduling, the method comprising receiving, by one or more computer processors, one or more print requests, generating, by the one or more computer processors, a greedy finite state machine based on the one or more print requests, generating, by the one or more computer processors, an optimal finite state machine based on the one or more print requests, generating, by the one or more computer processors, a cross product of the optimal finite state machine and the greedy finite state machine, identifying, by the one or more computer processors, a cycle in the cross product, and generating, by the one or more computer processors, a minimum ratio of optimal cost to greedy cost.
