A toner container installable in an image forming device having a controller according to one example embodiment includes a housing having a reservoir for storing toner. A chip is positioned on the housing and configured to, after sending a first busy response to the controller of the image forming device, receive a second write command from the controller of the image forming device that is abbreviated relative to a first write command received from the controller of the image forming device and that requests the chip to send a response to the first write command. The chip is further configured to send a response to the first write command to the controller of the image forming device if upon receiving a read command corresponding to the second write command the chip has completed processing the first write command.

An output unit determines whether a plurality of consumables installed in the output apparatus, such as a fixing unit and a transfer belt unit, are properly installed based on information on the main body of the output apparatus and information on the consumables. When the consumables are not properly installed, the output unit issues a message indicating a warning or an error to the user.

A management system includes an information processing apparatus that stores management information about cartridges that store consumables and is configured to update the stored management information, and an image forming apparatus configured to print an image on a sheet using the consumables stored in an attached cartridge, storing cartridge information about a cartridge that has been previously attached to the image forming apparatus, and configured to, when a cartridge is attached, retrieve cartridge information from the attached cartridge as first cartridge information and the stored cartridge information as second cartridge information, and transmit the first and second cartridge information to the processing apparatus. Upon receipt of the cartridge information, the processing apparatus determines whether the attached cartridge is a refilled cartridge, and if so, updates the management information so that the cartridge is identified as a refilled cartridge. The processing apparatus transmits a determination result to the image forming apparatus.

An image forming device and a method of operating the image forming device are provided. The method of operating the image forming device includes performing a first image forming job in the image forming device, generating at least one piece of transaction information including consumption information of at least one consumable in the image forming device, in accordance with the first image forming job, and, based on a network of a block chain that distributes and manages ledgers on which consumption information of consumables in a plurality of image forming devices is recorded, transmitting the at least one piece of transaction information to a plurality of nodes having the ledgers.

An information processing system includes a processor that manages time slots in which a roll paper has been consumed for printing or time slots in which the roll paper is scheduled to be consumed for printing and controls output of a first image in which figures corresponding to the time slots are arranged for an attribute of the paper along a time axis.

An image forming apparatus includes a consumable cartridge and a main body. The consumable cartridge includes a cartridge memory storing usage information and identifying information. The main body includes a main memory and a controller. The controller stores the identifying information stored in the cartridge memory in the main memory and rewrites the usage information stored in the cartridge memory into information indicating that the consumable cartridge is used in a case where the usage information indicates that the consumable cartridge is unused. The controller allows the image forming apparatus to execute printing in a case where the usage information indicates that the consumable cartridge is used and the identifying information stored in the cartridge memory is stored in the main memory or executes a specific error process in a case where the usage information indicates that the consumable cartridge is used and the identifying information stored in the cartridge memory is not stored in the main memory.

A management system capable of managing an apparatus with high accuracy at low cost without deteriorating productivity. The management system includes an image forming apparatus and a management apparatus that are communicatively connected. The image forming apparatus includes an obtainment unit that obtains data for items to which priorities are given, a first storage unit that stores the data, a transmission unit that transmits the data to the management apparatus, and an update unit that updates the priorities of the items according to a notification from the management apparatus. The management apparatus includes a second storage unit that stores data from the image forming apparatus, a determination unit that determines whether interpolation of defective data is possible for the items, a change unit that changes the priorities of the items according to possibility of the interpolation, and a notification unit that notifies of the priorities of the changed items.

An information processing apparatus includes a forming unit, a storage, and a selector. The forming unit receives print jobs and forms a group print job constituted by print jobs that satisfy a certain condition. The storage separately stores some of the print jobs forming the group print job as a subgroup if an amount of paper required for the group print job exceeds a total amount of specified continuous-form paper. Based on information stored in the storage, the selector selects, from among plural output devices, an output device that is able to output cut sheets which satisfy an execution condition for executing the print jobs forming the subgroup.

The server may receive consumable article information including usage information from an external device and determine by using the usage information included in the consumable article information whether a first notification condition is satisfied. In a case where it is determined that the first notification condition is satisfied, the server may send by using a first communication method a first notification for prompting an order of a new consumable article to external. After the first notification has been sent to external, the server may determine whether a second notification condition is satisfied. In an image forming apparatus, a consumable accommodates printing material and is mounted in a main casing. The consumable includes a consumable memory. A controller performs a restriction process to rewrite the first status information to indicate the used product to prohibit the consumable from being used in other image forming apparatuses in a case where first status information stored in the one of the consumable memory and a main memory indicates the new product. The controller performs an updating process to update the second status information so that the second status information indicates that the consumable can be temporarily used in the another image forming apparatus in a case where the controller receives a contract cancellation instruction. The contract cancellation instruction instructs to cancel an agreement concluded for the image forming apparatus.
