A computer determines whether PDL data contained in a print job, which is obtained via a communication interface or an external interface, matches pre-conversion PDL data stored in a conversion rule in a non-volatile memory. When a type of converted PDL data associated with the pre-conversion PDL in the conversion rule matches a type of PDL data determined in a PJL converting process, PJL data that conversion is held is converted to the converted PDL data associated with the pre-conversion PJL data that matches the held PDL data in the conversion rule.

A process is disclosed for creating a print profile to control the operation of a direct-to-shape printing system for applying images on the exterior of an axially symmetrical media object that has a contoured, varying exterior surface, such as occurs on curved wine bottles and sports equipment like bats. The process takes a media recipe holding media geometry information and an image intended to be printed and processes that information to control a motion control subsystem and a print engine subsystem. The geometry information is manipulated to generate a CAM table suitable for the motion control subsystem, and the image file is processed to create a raster image file suitable for ink head expression. Various setup values are included in the process to prepare the direct-to-shape printing system for use of the media recipe.

The system and method includes generating, by a printer driver comprised in the user device, a user interface comprising features supported by a plurality of printing devices. Further, it includes receiving via the user device over the network, a print instruction comprising the features supported by the plurality of printing devices connected to the computer system over the network. And based on the print instruction, generating a print job in an embodiment. Further, based on the user authentication at one of the plurality of printing devices, converting via a gateway, the received print instruction into a format compatible with that printing device and releasing the generated print job for printing at that printing device, according to an embodiment.

A control method of an information processing apparatus on which an expansion application configured to expand a function of print data generation software configured to generate print data runs, is provided. The control method comprises obtaining attribute data on a printing apparatus, the attribute data being output from the printing apparatus, obtaining data indicating a print function, and adding information related to a specific function based on attribute information included in the obtained attribute data if information indicating the specific function is not included in the obtained data indicating the print function. A setting screen including a setting item of the specific function is displayed based on the added information related to the specific function.

An information processing device for generating data to be used by a recording device, which includes a plurality of discharge portions configured to discharge a liquid to form the object on the medium, includes a communication circuit configured to communicate with the recording device; an identifying unit configured to identify, based on a movement direction of the recording device in formation of the object on the medium, an initial pixel of the object formed by an initial discharge of the liquid by each of the plurality of discharge portions; a data generation unit configured to generate discharge control data for controlling a discharge operation of each of the plurality of discharge portions for the initial pixel identified by the identifying unit; and a transmission control unit configured to control the communication circuit to transmit the discharge control data to the recording device.

A control system includes a control target device communicable with an information terminal and a server system. The server system includes an issue unit issuing a registration code in accordance with an input format of the information terminal in response to an issue request of a registration code from the control target device and a reply unit replying the registration code to the control target device. The control target device presents the replied registration code. If the presented registration code is inputted to the information terminal, information including the inputted registration code and an ID of the information terminal is transmitted to the server system. A method for configuring a raster image processor (RIP) for a digital printing system includes receiving a file for a print job; receiving or determining job characteristics of the print job or the file for the print job; receiving or determining hardware characteristics of hardware upon which the RIP is operating; inputting the job characteristics and the hardware characteristics into a trained artificial intelligence (AI) module; and selecting, using the trained AI module, a configuration or settings for the RIP for processing of the file based on the plurality of job characteristics and the plurality of hardware characteristics.
