The image forming apparatus includes a printing engine, memory to store information indicating correspondences of a plurality of file types and uniform resource identifier (URI) addresses of rendering subjects to render printing data of each file type of the plurality of file types in correspondence to each of a plurality of external apparatuses, a communication device to receive a file by a direct printing function method from an external apparatus, and a processor to identify the type of the received file, determine a URI address corresponding to the identified file type and the external apparatus, according to the information indicating correspondences, control the communication device to transmit the received file to the determined URI address, and receive, from the determined URI address, rendered data corresponding to the file.

A control method of an information processing apparatus on which an expansion application configured to expand a function of print data generation software configured to generate print data runs, is provided. A process is disclosed for creating a print profile to control the operation of a direct-to-shape printing system for applying images on the exterior of an axially symmetrical media object that has a contoured, varying exterior surface, such as occurs on curved wine bottles and sports equipment like bats. The process takes a media recipe holding media geometry information and an image intended to be printed and processes that information to control a motion control subsystem and a print engine subsystem. The geometry information is manipulated to generate a CAM table suitable for the motion control subsystem, and the image file is processed to create a raster image file suitable for ink head expression. Various setup values are included in the process to prepare the direct-to-shape printing system for use of the media recipe.

The image forming device is configured to perform printing with the raster image corresponding to the longitudinal-feed or lateral-feed envelope selected.

A control method for controlling an information processing apparatus configured to generate print data using a first program that is interpreted and executed when operating in the information processing apparatus and a second program that is compiled in advance and is usable from the first program, includes acquiring a first generation logic for generating print data, the first generation logic being modifiable and linked with a printer configured to execute printing; generating a second generation logic by modifying the first generation logic at least partially; generating print data to be printed by the printer using input image data and the second generation logic; and transmitting, to the printer, the print data generated in the generating the print data. The first generation logic is executed using the second program.

An information processing device includes a processor configured to: recognize, based on a predetermined condition, a degree of confidentiality of acquired print data; request a first apparatus that is installed in an internal environment in which the first apparatus is installed or that is installed in an environment that requires authentication processing for access to perform rasterization processing on print data that is recognized as having a high degree of confidentiality; and request a second apparatus, which is different from the first apparatus, to perform rasterization processing on print data that is recognized as not having a high degree of confidentiality.

A method of controlling an information processing apparatus configured to execute an extension application associated with printing data generation software operatable in the information processing apparatus to extend a function includes: adding information on an extended function to printing function information used in the printing data generation software; switching in accordance with a setting value stored in common information shared with the extension application whether to perform skip processing in which conversion processing of intermediate data performed by the printing data generation software is skipped; and editing the intermediate data in which the conversion processing is skipped in the printing data generation software in the switching and converting the edited intermediate data into printing data.

An non-transitory computer readable medium stores a program causing a computer installed in an information processing device to execute a process corresponding to a printer connected to the information processing device. The process includes receiving image data for images of a plurality of pages from a general-purpose print program which is pre-installed in an OS of the computer, generating composite image data corresponding to an composite image which is generated by reducing images of the plurality of pages in size and arranging the reduced images for the N pages so that the reduced images fit on one surface of the sheet, from the image data received in the receiving of the image data, and causing the information processing device to transmit print data which is rasterized based on the composite image data to the printer.

One embodiment of the present invention is a non-transitory computer readable storage medium storing a program for causing a computer to perform a control method in an information processing apparatus including: first printing control software; and second printing control software that converts first format print data output by the first printing control software into second format print data, and the control method includes: a first creation step of creating raster data based on the first format print data; a medium determination step of performing determination of whether a printing-target medium is a medium that needs a margin larger than a regular size; and a margin insertion step of performing margin insertion processing for raster data created at the first creation step.
