A method of displaying preset information according to an embodiment may include: storing plural pieces of preset information including first preset information and second preset information; obtaining, from a target file that is to be processed and includes first association information associated with the first preset information, the first association information; and displaying one or more pieces of preset information out of the plural pieces of preset information that are stored, while preferentially displaying, based on the obtained first association information, the first preset information associated with the first association information with respect to the second preset information.

An image forming apparatus, includes: an image generator; a motion sensor; a login-logout processor; a display; a console; a memory; an on-hold setting receiver that receives a setting to either hold or cancel a set value not completely entered, when the motion sensor is not able to detect the user; and a controller that controls the image generator, the motion sensor, the login-logout processor, the display, the console, the memory, and the on-hold setting receiver. The controller causes the memory to store the set value not completely entered and switches a setting screen if the on-hold setting receiver is set to hold the setting not completely entered when the motion sensor is not able to detect the user while the display displays the setting screen, and cancels the set value not completely entered and switches the setting screen if the on-hold setting receiver is set to cancel the setting not completely entered.

When a printer driver is installed, identification information of a printing apparatus set as an output destination of print data of the printer driver is registered in a print permission list in an administrator access area. The installed printer driver outputs the print data for the printing apparatus when the identification information of the printing apparatus to which the print data of the printer driver is output is registered in the print permission list. The installed printer driver does not output the print data for the printing apparatus when the identification information of the printing apparatus is not registered in the print permission list.

A printer includes: a printer storage unit storing a sub hot folder that is given a folder name including a keyword corresponding to a print condition and is thus associated with the print condition; and a printer control unit preparing the sub hot folder and causing the printer storage unit to store the prepared sub hot folder. The printer control unit accepts an input of the folder name, and prepares the sub hot folder given the accepted folder name and causes the printer storage unit to store the sub hot folder when the sub hot folder associated with the same print condition as the print condition corresponding to the keyword included in the accepted folder name is not stored in the printer storage unit.

An image forming apparatus includes a processor configured to: obtain user information and a print job, the user information indicating a user associated with a second image forming apparatus different from the image forming apparatus, the print job including setting information about a setting used in printing; when the setting information of the obtained print job is not allowed to be applied to the image forming apparatus, further obtain substitute information indicating a substitute for the setting information of the second image forming apparatus with which the association is indicated by the user information; and execute the print job by applying the obtained substitute information.

An image forming apparatus includes a registration unit configured to register setting values of a plurality of setting items including a predetermined setting item and a identifier in association with each other, a transmission unit configured to transmit the identifier to an information processing apparatus, a reception unit configured to receive print data from the information processing apparatus and a control unit configured to execute processing based on the print data, wherein the information processing apparatus displays a print setting screen where the identifier can be selected and where the setting value of the predetermined setting item cannot be set, and based on selection of the identifier, the information processing apparatus displays a print setting screen where the setting value of the predetermined setting item can be set, and wherein the transmission unit transmits information indicating a setting value that can be set for the predetermined setting item.

A system and method are provided which enable a print media color to be used, as a replacement for a mixture of one or more colorants, in rendering portions of a print job. One or more multidimensional look-up tables are provided. Each table provides for an identified input color, in a device-independent space, to be equated to no colorant, when printed on the respective print media. The identified input color is one of a set of input colors, which, when printed and measured, has an output color that is closest to a measured color of the print media.

A method prepares a print job for a printing operation and includes providing at least one first data set associated with the print job and multiple reference data sets associated with reference jobs. The method is characterized in that it contains the steps of providing multiple mutually complementary data sets for each one of a plurality of reference jobs, automatically filtering the reference data sets of the plurality of reference jobs to provide at least one second data set, and using the second data set in the printing operation as a replacement of or an addition to the at least one first data set. The method provides a way of manufacturing high-quality printed products while saving time, e.g. makeready time for the printing operation, and costs, e.g. caused by unusable prints or low-quality prints.

An information processing apparatus comprises a determination unit configured to determine whether or not an instruction for printing based on a print job is given by a remote operation, and a decision unit configured to decide one of apparatuses belonging to a local network, to which the information processing apparatus belongs, as a storage destination of the print job in accordance with a result of the determination by the determination unit.

An information processing apparatus including a user interface unit that is operated so as to set settings of a plurality of setting items in the information processing apparatus. The information processing apparatus acquires information including settings of the plurality of setting items and determines whether or not a lock setting for inhibiting the plurality of setting items or a plurality of settings from being changed is included in the acquired information. In a case where it is determined that the lock setting is included, at least the plurality of setting items or the plurality of settings, associated with the lock setting, are inhibited from being change by operating the user interface unit.
